Here is a video of the novice main. First race back in two months. Bike felt good, but I had horrible starts every race, and we all know it's in the starts.

Good on you for getting out there. Hell, while I was doing it, we wouldn't (couldn't) get 1/4 of that many people to show up on a grid, for any class!
I'm such a old fat broken slob that I have to deliberately hold down my pace so that I wouldn't barf in my helmet. A guy of your age and physical conditioning should ATTACK that dirt section! Ignore the natural urge and tendency to play "follow the leader!" Get out there, avoid fixating on the conga line of bikes ahead of you, and get out there and make and take YOUR OWN lines! While they are stalling, stumbling, and waiting for the leader(s) to make the corner, jump, mound or section, just maintain your own pace and speed past all those fools. That is the tip of the day.
