Here is the last video but first race of the weekend. It was the Novice Class HEAT race. I stalled out but managed to gain back some position.

Looked like a lot of fun. The stall allowed you to have some exercise picking off those guys even tho the last guy did not go down easily.
What's with the stalls? Balancing between wheely-ing over the guy in front?
Good stuff...

Awesome. YeeHaw! I was right with you.
Funny thing about running out front. Usually you are all alone. Running in, or through the back of the pack is where all the real "racing" is. Leading is just riding as fast as you can for as long as you can without mistakes. And again, generally once the glue is broken on the pack, you are all alone. Then, just being clean and consistent is the goal, with you being your own worst enemy. I've had races on the DRZ, when I would find myself all alone... mid pack, for 8o% of a race wondering if it was still going on. Eventually someone would wave a flag at me, and I would quit. Once you start to lead Dave, you'll need to work on finding your inner peace... and pace. Finding yourself out front of a angry pack of wolves can freak you out sometimes. It is a different skill once you have reached that level to stay calm, but quick. And finish out front.
Again, great job!

I used to "stall" at the start of the Sprint triathlons (which are often run in a cockamachie order of 5k run first, 20K bike 2nd, and then 1/2 mile swim finish) which would give me a chance to check out the condition of the cute chicks who seemed to gravitate to this short event as I worked my way towards the front. If there was real talent, a nice slow "run to bike" transition would provide an opportunity for a recheck...Brakelate wrote:Awesome. YeeHaw! I was right with you.
