Not sure if it actually has a nice factory needle gauge that really (!) moves, unlike every other dash indicator other than for fuel in the last 20 cars I've owned, but this Temp gauge really does move around and will climb up above half-to three quarters range (not in red, but climbs) but always returns once we get some air flowing through it.

I know the "X" and Anniversary models have cool looking ducted hoods, but perhaps this is a real necessity ? That V-6 sure takes up all the room under the hood, and even the rear exhaust system seems to just about glow after clawing through deep sand, churning along at a walking pace.

Just curious if that was a common theme. I guess I could go do internet research, but oh God no. Not ANOTHER forum board! :-D
Hi,

When you are working the Jeep, do you have it in 4 Lo?

I have had the temp gauge move from the middle to 3/4 on the indicator when really hoofing it up a grade for a long time. The motor likes to rev and I take advantage of that too. The Pentastar is a gem of a motor.

I don't remember the temp gauge climbing when I was off road in the desert or idling for long periods.

My Jeep has 4:10's but also 1000lbs heavier than stock due to big 37 tires and bumpers and other related gear.

I know that some 2014's had issues with cooling. My friend bought a new 2014 and the cooling fan didn't work and the cooling system had to be burped. That fixed his problems.

Yup, 4-Lo when necessary. Wasn't really overloaded or in what would be considered "excessive" use. Not WOT for extended periods, idling or anything unusual.

Never overheats into the Red. Just gives the sensation of running hotter than what one would feel is "normal".

I just have the 3.73's. But, obviously bone stock otherwise. Plan to keep it that way. Interesting about the 2014 'Burping'. Perhaps I will have the dealer look at it next time I am down that way just to be sure. They gave me a bunch of "free" maintenance visits, like routine oil changes, rotations, etc. Perhaps I will cash in on one of those. I just hate having someone else work on my stuff. Especially the first change, when I really get to take a good, personal look at any new vehicle and how it is doing since purchase. Kind of sets the tone on what I should be watching for in the future, while confirming everything is done right, tight and not being scraped, burned off or showing any other signs of distress.

You were so right on the Auto suggestion. Your recommendation, even though doubting it initially, was such the right choice. Thanks again, for that.

The "new" motor IS great. Didn't burn a drop of oil, even though subjected to a whole bunch of freeway miles right after the initial purchase. I want to say, it's only like a month old, but has more than 4500 miles on it already. It seems like a good balance between displacement, power, efficiency and weight.

Is yours the Hard or Soft top?

I have both tops. Just switched back to the hard top.

One thing that you absolutely must update is the headlights....they suck. I think two maglights taped to the front of the Jeep would be brighter.

I self installed new Trucklite LED housings and couldn't be happier. Fully legal, less power usage from battery/alt and super super bright without blinding oncoming drivers.

Hi,

This might be worth a look for the 2014 overheating issues, looks like a TSB: http://www.wranglerforum.com/f202/2014- ... 43642.html

Thanks for the tips! I will have to check and see if I have the "White Label" fan. Ran a lengthy deep churned up sand wash trail a few weekends ago. It really was working hard in 4HI to pull fast enough to "float" on the sand. Should have got the 4.10's  I expected the stock motor to pull a little harder even with these gears.

It never got warm (reading the water temp gauge), but we are now running around in the low 40's, so despite knowing it was working hard and getting warm under the hood, little of it made a noted difference inside the cab, in running or in displayed temps.

Rather not wait until summer, in the middle of a crawl in the middle of no where in the triple digit summer heat to "re-discover" this issue. Guess I get to read through all the various pages on yet another forum! Woop.

Thanks again for the tip! Beautiful rig you have there~ !
