You're losing it dude. It looks brass. In fact it is brass. It is gold, actually brassy, in color, not red or brown.
Now . . . . I admit that generally automotive fittings ought to be, and usually are, steel. And, if you come across a 3/8 NPT X 5/8th hose barb in steel, straight or 90* then please let me know . . . .

Good Luck!
So, is that baby bolted in, alive and blowing flames out the tail pipe yet?

Re: Not a Ram! It is a Rampage
Since I spent the weekend riding motorcycles to and from a car museum and the motorcycle races, nothing was accomplished in the Rampage department.
I am waiting for the silicone reducer that goes between the IC and the TB and the cutting and welding of the IM can't proceed until that reducer arrives . . . . from China! Then there's the welding of the IM neck/inlet, the welding of NPT bleed and sensor bungs, and the welding of threaded mounting pads onto the IC. Then after welding, the stripping and re-painting of the IM and the new painting of the IC. Before painting the IC, there's also the fabrication of steel mounting brackets to bolt up those new mounting pads on the IC to the engine/transaxle and the final mock up of the IC/hoses/inlet & outlet pipes and clamps. Then too, that 25 year old injector harness and the injectors should be cleaned and checked out before it all gets plugged into the bottom of the IM along with the various vacuum port barbs and sensors.
The old transaxle and axles are still in the car so I'll be pulling that transaxle this week. After it is out I will then have plenty of working room in the engine bay, to work from the inside of the bay to finalize the location and mounting of the new A/W IC heat exchanger, the AC condenser, and the radiator, and maybe an oil cooler/exchanger in the core support/bumper/nose cone.
I also have to clean and mock up assemble all the accessory drive wheels and belts to make sure they and their fasteners are all right and proper before the engine gets lowered into its home. It will go in naked and then the turbo and down pipe all that accessory stuff will be hung on afterward; it's nice to have a dress rehearsal shop assembly of all that ahead of final in-car assembly.
Then I'll have to get on my back and to fabricate/weld the existing 3" exhaust's connection to the new V-band down pipe connecter. Then there's the intercooler pump and hose hanging and wiring, draining/cleaning the old gas out of the baffled gas tank, purging the fuel lines, changing the fuel filter, testing the in-tank fuel pump, buying a battery . . . ..
So . . . .. to answer your question . . . . No, she is not bolted in, alive and blowing flames out the tail pipe yet.

Re: Not a Ram! It is a Rampage
Wow. Sounds like quite the involved project. The Cobra needs an Oil Change and I keep putting off as it kills me to bend over or work kneeling and climbing under the thing on the cold concrete. I have the time, just not in the shape anymore to take on even the most fun or entertaining projects anymore.
Hell, I still have a new tail rack and small box to mount on the DRZ that have been sitting new in the box for the last six months. I really should go and try to get that done at least. Maybe it will be good for me, and put some interest back into tinkering the bike. It needs to be ridden.
