I'm planning to buy my first motorcycle, and the Vegas 8 Ball caught my eye. I really like the old school-ish looks and the monotone black paint job. My question for you all is, is it a good first bike? and if not, what would you suggest that might have a similar look to it? thanks in advance to any responses.

It's as good as any. If you like it then you are the only one that you have to please. I say go for it.

kind of expensive but if you can handle that big of a bike go for it!

I think Victory makes a great looking bike and it is probably a good bike. I seriously considered the Arlen Ness model before buying my Harley, but I was put off by the fact that I have no dealers within a 50 mile radius and I see so few of them on the road. In the end I just didn't feel comfortable buying one although I still like the looks of the Ness model more than my Softail Deluxe. If you have dealer support nearby and especially if you have a friend that has owned one for a while and give you a good review, then I'd say go for it.

I own a 2004 Vegas and can say it has been bulletproof. More than I can say for the Harley I had before. There are over 350 Victory/Polaris dealers in the U.S. but based on my experience you won't need them much. They also offer the Kingin 8 Ball which is built on the same frame as the Vegas. It will be a great 1st bike since it is so reliable well balanced and all you have to do is ride. Plus the added bonus of being able to significantly outrun the "new" 96 cubic inch Harleys that have to idle on 1 cylinder so they don't overheat. Great design. JD power lists the Victory as the top rated cruiser. Sorry Byron can't argue with the truth. Ride ahead of the heard

I ride a victory vegas jackpot and I love the bike. It does seem a little expensive for a first ride unless, for some reason you know for sure your going to be riding for years to come. If your not so sure then I would suggest a suzuki boulevard. You really can't beat the value of the jap bikes. they're very reliable and they've come a long way in styling.
