Interesting.

The S/C whine / blow off is incredibly menacing. I would have liked to see more of the bike; The instrumentation, the lights, front and rear, etc. Shows my priorities are shifting. Once it was "show me the exhaust headers, the rotors, the wheel widths. Now it's "are the rear view mirrors actually functional?"

The one thing that impressed me the most about Jay during the video is probably transparent to others, especially non-riders. The fact that he seamlessly mounted and dismounted the bike from the "off side". Most seasoned riders avoid or are extremely uncomfortable approaching even a very familiar machine from the right side. That alone demonstrates he has spent lots of time around bikes and is very comfortable in manipulating them. Standing still or otherwise.

:-D I don't ever remember mounting a bike from the right side. In fact, over the many years of throwing my right leg over bikes, it is very difficult for me to mount from the right side. Actually at age 71, I have considered getting a little short stool to have available for the first mount of the day...

I was a little surprised at him revving the bike so soon after starting it, but figured that it had been started and warmed up before his camera action.

I thought the same, but he claims it was only 2k RPM, despite the nasty bark before settling back down to the crisp cackle of idle.

He spoke of the 14k redline, and after a few seconds, I was really waiting to hear him "whack it open". But, then again, in person, inside that concrete building lacking any insulation to speak of, I bet it was very loud, though likely muted and flattened out by the fancy microphones dialed down to pick up the verbal conversation without echo.

H2R vs Bugatti Veyron...

phpBB [video]

Pretty impressive on the part of the bike, but a couple things to note: 1. The Veyron is not in top speed mode, indicative by the wing being up at the start, 2. On a longer track, the bike doesn't stand a chance. Still, for a $50k bike to be able to perform like that against a $1.5+M car, it has to be a pretty badass bike.

Here is a link to three videos of the Kawi vs. high end cages, and it gets thumped by a Nissan GT-R: https://rideapart.com/articles/video-ka ... -r-mclaren

1350 HP! :o I love those newer GT-Rs. Out of the box, amazing cars, especially for the price.

No one knows how much it cost to get 1350 HP out of the Nissan, nor now long it will hold together, but, that is one fast car. The Kawasaki is also impressive but it is not a street bike at all, and, believe it or not, there are street bikes that would have smoked the Kawasaki. There are some big displacement Busa's out there with turbos, and even nitrous, that make huge amounts of power, and they are also pretty aerodynamic. It really comes down to pounds per HP and aerodynamics as it is still a drag race of sorts. And a 300 HP bike, has a darned good power to weight ratio with a smallish rider on it. Kawasaki also has bragged about how slick the bike is aerodynamically. But, the Bugatti goes faster than the estimated 220 top end of the bike, so the race was too short is all. And, the Bugatti only had 1200 measly HP.....
