I went out and bought one of those big fancy dirt bikes that turns out also did pretty well at high speeds and the drag strip. Turns out that Hayabusa was a nice starter bike to learn how to ride my DRZ. :?

I should do a re-visit ride back out there for another set of photos. But, it was a long, flat ride on the Busa. The DRZ would be mind bending, though much more fun once I got there. It would be a cool adventure though, especially if I stopped off on the Dunes on the way out there and shot some video. I don't think I've seen a DRZ-SM running Sand Dunes yet!

I used to take a couple of yearly little "Treks" out to no where, for no reason in particular, just to clear my head. Keeler, Ballarat and a stop off at the Manzanar Internment Camp have been my typical destinations. Then, there was the epic camp out-tow the boat to "Area 51", a late night encounter at the Little A'le Inn in Rachel, and then the long run up to the super bitchin and well preserved Ghost Town of Tybo... all with F-16 low level fly-by's, dog fights and odd run in's with folks going no where (obviously a neat underground landstrip / bunker / government safe house thinly disguised as a single room trailer park out in the middle of no where, with it's own fire truck, Helo pad and playground / above ground work out area) with a BIG round trip to launch at Searchlight and run up the Colorado to the base of the Hoover Dam and back (Pre 9/11 when you could still get close), but THAT is a whole 'Nuther story.

But, yes, a trip over to Olancha Dunes would be fun.

You guys ever read my "Shakey-Quakey Jerky Ride" report from years ago? If anyone is interested I can dig up a copy and post a link. I think it still exists out in cyber-space somewhere.

^^Love the Busa shot in the snow. Although, having seen your offroad vids on the DRZ, I expected no less. The DRZ turned five today, and what an awesome five years it's been.

Day I brought her home

DRZ does snow too (busted my ass good twice that day)

Gave here some TLC today, got it inspected, got my new plates and took it for a quick rip on a favorite backroad. Hands down the best bike I've ever owned (for where I live), no contest.

What brand seat is that? I also like the front fender. Is that one of the original Suzuki Sumermoto body kit units?

More Busa snow pics just to fill the empty space. Funny, had the brand new '08 Gen II Busa, brought the '09 DRZ home, and the big fancy bike was pretty much just a show piece in the garage after that. All the miles were put on the silly little 400!

Oh, and how many miles total on your scooter?

I think these are the earliest pics of our DRZ's, on the morning of our first long ride out. Funny, he got his about two weeks earlier (at the same dealership) when our license plates showed up, they ended up only being two digits apart. Curiously, mine has a lower number than his.

And then, as we all know, cute gals dig DRZ-SM's ! *Even if only being ridden around by their fat Dad! She was smiling so big, because she was watching Tetge pull his first 40' stoppie with a 90 deg twist at the end before setting it down. This was the day he took me to the local shopping mall to show me what a Supermoto was all about. He demo'd climbing stairs, jumpging off the loading docks, making a slalom course around all the shopping karts and then chasing the local BMX stunt bike middle school kids off by pulling wheelies down the walkways and running around the buildings on their little obstacle course race track. I've got pics of him somewhere, I'll have to dig them up.

He he, yeah the DRZ just begs to get you in trouble for sure. The seat is a Renazco Racing, suede top, vinyl sides, with their rally fill option. Pricey, but worth every damn cent, and holding up well after four years (I missed the whole '09 season with a shoulder injury) and 19,000 miles. The front fender is just the Acerbis SM fender with the beak cut off.

Wheelies, did somebody say wheelies?

I think this is the deck shot with the whiteside cliffs in the background you were talking about
