That's a mighty fine looking puller. And, it has fine threads to make it work easier. It should work without having to custom modify it as I had to do with mine. But, the basic principal of the puller remains the same. It is also a good touch to put the OEM cover over the stock pulley as one can make the car look dead stock without much effort at all. Well, the Accufab TB can be a bit of a PITA as it is big enough to make getting to the bolts that hold it on difficult. My set of shorty wrenches and crows feet came in handy, as I recall. And, while I was at it, I put the stock air box and filter back in. Amazing how quickly one can convert a potent Cobra engine into a mere, wimpy, stock, one. Why, dead stock, my Cobra could barely hit 12.7's at LACR.03_SONIC_BLUR wrote:So, I'm buying the VMP pulley tool with the ckamshell for 3 Inch and smaller pullies

And, some O2 connector extensions so that while I have the mid pipe out, I can plug in the extensions and not have to kill myself trying to get past the OEM front cats to get the O2 sensors connected

The claim on the puller is that the clamshell attachment can remove a pulley smaller than 3 inches. I hope this is a feature I do not need to test, but it will be nice to have if I have to go back to full stock

Your TB ain't got no sticker, as I recall. And, as I said, it a PITA to mess with. Of course, it is only a TB, and it should blow clean, but, it might fail visuals if the inspector knows their stuff and if they care. But, a Terminator is a lot easier to deal with than most vehicles that have been altered to get as big a power increase over stock as simple bolt-ons give to a Terminator. People with headers and cams and different induction and other more difficult to reverse mods, have it a lot worse when their smog checks come up.03_SONIC_BLUR wrote:The claim on the puller is that the clamshell attachment can remove a pulley smaller than 3 inches. If needed, I can remove the TB and plenum as one piece and stick the stock assembly on. I have the gasket. I need the pulley puller if I have to do that. I still have the stock pie plate and belt

I don't know about those candy ass fine threaded bolts. But, the rest of the parts look strong enough for sure.03_SONIC_BLUR wrote:Pulley Puller arrived today. Pretty nice set

Trying to complete the drive cycle and get the monitors to pass the readiness tests. The puller works awesome, I will be able to reuse the 2.75 pulley

You don't need the 2.75" pulley. Just leave it stock and give it a break in its old age.03_SONIC_BLUR wrote:Trying to complete the drive cycle and get the monitors to pass the readiness tests. The puller works awesome, I will be able to reuse the 2.75 pulley

Yeah I do. Swapping the mid pipe robbed a few HP. The Stock TB robbed a couple mre. Putting the Pie Plate on was really disheartening. Add to that the fact that I installed the pie plate backwards and it ate my belt forcing me to go to Galpin to get a replacement as nobody else had one available today...Tetge wrote:You don't need the 2.75" pulley. I installed the belt at night using a drop light and missed the alignment issue on the idler pulley. I drove it to Ventura without an issue, and last night took it out for another spin. A few blocks from the house at a stoplight, I hear a loud tap tap tap tap and almost shit my pants. That was quickly followed by a thrashing sound that I recognized was a belt shredding itself and my bowels calmed down. I drove it back home and examined the remains. It was plain as day that the belt was not aligned on the idler near the alternator. A careful analysis in the light of day this morning revealed the issue with the pulley, which I quickly popped off and reinstalled. I then hunted down a belt, drove to the valley and got it done and verified correct operation

As you may recall, those pulley pullers and the routine necessary to change a pulley can be sort of tricky. But, I may have been drinking that time. Yes, now that I think about it, I must have been drunk, since generally one would go to the Cantina and have lots of Margaritas to allow time for the blue car that was being worked on to cool down. And, drunks and tools do not always mix.
