Has anyone noticed that they are not getting yacked at for "OFFTOPIC" posts. :text-welcomewave:
What is an "offtopic" post?

I agree. Bleed the brake system. My Ranger blew a
clutch release cylinder, and I think it was due to
bad fluid, accumulating crap, wrecking the cylinder,
which is hard to get to.. you have to pull the tranny to
replace it. Boooo.

My Guzzi fluid was so screwed up that my front brake
stopped working.. and my seals on the master reservoir
were all dried up, for which there is no replacement, so
they now seep.

All that said, it is a hassle to bleed hydraulic fluid by
yourself, so it gets neglected. I worked as a mechanic
for quite a while... we would bleed brakes, but I don't
remember doing to many full fluid change outs.. although
once again, in a perfect world, this is how everyone would
go. And change their antifreeze regularly as well. Plus all
the other fluids.

My dad had a 63 ford galaxy, and it lasted forever, with
very little to no maintenance. This is what I grew up with,
that, and seeing lots of stuff roll with zero maint..

It is the kind of deferred maintenance that will not usually
bite you in the butt, just do incremental damage till you
need to replace something that otherwise could have lasted
much longer.

Thruxton,

:text-goodpost:

When you start pricing calipers, lines, seals and ABS pumps it adds up.

Even if you don't flush the fluid, when you sell the car the new owner is inheriting those problems as well.

I respect Tetge for his decisions, even though I don't agree with his maintenance schedule.

Although, I must warn him. If I go to the next group event, his car is going up on jackstands, wheels will be removed and I will bleed brake fluid in the name of DOT 4 justice when he least expects it or is not looking. :angry-soapbox:

Hey, what happened to the quotes? They are not distinguished from the replies? And, unless I am crazy, the colors of the board are all different.

Seriously though................the only color that changed is the background.

From White to Black.

Is it an improvement?

I got a woman's point of view and she thought so.

Holy shit, this thread has gone so far off topic...........LOL

I can not argue with a man who has a woman's point of view since you guys are generally sensitive about things.....

I hate to get back to the question at hand,
but I must say that this is one reason I like
old stuff.. very little in the way of fluids to
worry about. My classic British stuff can sit
for years.. the oil leaks out, the carbs dry up,
and the battery was long dead anyway. Fuel it
up, kick it, and 9 times out of 10 it will eventually
start. My Corvair has windshield fluid and brake
fluid (which I had to completely replace recently,
moving to a dual master cylinder), oil, tranny and
diff oil, and juice in the battery.. of course, it is
a JC penny lifetime battery, and I am on my fifth,
I think.. so who worries about that? Also Gas..

Ah, no ABS, no fancy smancy hydraulic systems to
worry about.. just get in and fire it up.. and drive
in complete fear of your life !!! :)..
