It's been a while.

Post by racebronco2 »

Here is the newest. The Cobra will a track car only. I have been gathering parts for a while. I have Ford Gt cams and Sean Hyland cams. I have ported heads. On another set of heads i have the over size valves with undercut vale stems. I just have to have some time and funds to get everything to the machine shop, still need to free up some cash. I have 1500sq ft shop in which i now sell most of my Mark VIII parts on Ebay. I have about 80 ft of shelves in which they are full of parts. I have parted out about 6 Mark VIII's so far. I have one i drive. I really like the cars. I have one with blown head gaskets with only 70,000 miles on it. The engine is being freshened up with a hone, new bearings, rings and gaskets. I am installing 97 cobra cams and later a Cobra manifold.

Good to hear all of that, Carlos. As you notice from the (lack of) responses, things can be a little slow here.

I am up here in SoCal for two weeks, then back to the casa outside of San Miguel de Allende.

Nice to hear from you.

You say that the Cobra will be a race car now, but, as we all know, it was already one, so, you are finally just admitting the truth. If you still have drag racing tires, you might be able to really throw down at the strip if you cared to tow the car out and try, but, I suppose that it still would be a delicate road racing machine and that you'd worry about the stress of launching it hard. Still, it should go over 130 at Famoso, and possibly 120+ at Willow, which would be quite impressive.

The Lincolns are really not a lot heavier than a Cobra, and, they have the IRS and the basic engine so I suppose that if you worked on the suspension and modded the engine, it could actually end up a pretty potent package. And, you have enough experience with these cars so that you could mod one effectively. Perhaps someday I will hear of the Carlos Motorworks Lincolns? That would surprise some people when the vintage Lincoln. old man's car. blew their doors off. And the Lincolns do have really nice interiors with thick leather and comfortable seats. I know that my buddy Butch loves those Lincoln Marks and his is getting really long of tooth, although the engine still runs great. Perhaps you will find him a nice clean one to replace his aging one, instead of finding a driver's side black door only?

Welcome back, Carlos! Good to hear you've got a bunch of fun stuff going on. Do you still have your day job and doing the Mk8 thing on the side, or have you gone full time salvage expert?
