I'am 16 years old with a 3.4 gpa and I was wondering if this would be a good idea if I was responsible and could afford it?

I think the viper is to much car and power for someone so young.

No it really isn't a good idea. That is way too much car for a new driver. Not just the 500hp but the torque that comes with it in an engine that big. If you need a fast V8 car as your first ride go for an LS1 Trans Am or one of the new Mustang GT's. They will be a little more forgiving. You really are a lot more likely to get into an accident when your a new driver statistically. In 2 or 3 years if you still want a Viper and you have some driving experience under your belt I'd say go for it :)

Unless you have just stupid amounts of money you are making a mistake (and even then may still be!)
Jeez, for cripes sakes get a used VW or Saturn something - that will be more fun anyway!
Plus you can get it dirty and throw surfboards in it and it won't matter.

Bad idea. Get some experience of driving under your belt before you try a car like this. It could be a death sentence for an unexperienced driver. Not to mention that the cops will pull you over constantly.

well this begs the question... where to from there? once you have owned a 2003 viper what will be next? a brand new model for your 18th? then another new one for your 20th? there will come a time when you can't afford a flash new car and a 10 year old buick will seem like the ultimate comedown for you. i recommend starting small with a cheapish car and saving your money for something better, like college or a house.

i honestly dont think grades have anything to do with how well you drive. its all a matter of how you see yourself driving and if you can afford one go for it. but also think about registation payments and get a quote from as insurance agent before you get an car. also since gas prices are hell make sure you can actually fill it up more that twice in a month.
every teenager wants that perfect car . i understand but stay safe...

That ould depend upon your level and mindset of responsibility.

If you are a responsible driver, following the rules of the road and display defensive driving skills you should be fine.

The kind of vehicle you have does not matter, it's your level and mindset of responsibility that matters most.

Being 16 there is no doubt you know it all.
At least you are wise enough to question this.
NO you are too inexperienced to drive a HI-Perf car on the streets with the older yet total idiots who are totally unpredictable.

Once you've set aside the issues of having an accident or the costs of insuring the car, what else is there to be concerned with? Maintenance costs? If you can afford the insurance, you can afford the maintenance. Depreciation? Ditto. Moving violations? You can afford legal defense, too. Practicality? What 16 year old even wants practicality?

I think the single decision to make is whether you wish to be perceived as a person who chose a Viper as a first car. That'd be enough for me to choose something else. Your mileage may vary.
