We picked up a replacement for Canela yesterday. Went to a shelter that has 45+ dogs waiting for adoption and asked to see the 4 dogs least likely to be adopted ever. Wow. 1 was a clear winner in an ugly dog contest. So ugly it was cute. Terri said 'no'. We took the second one. It has been at the shelter for 4-5 years. She weighs 60 pounds and is going to take some serious training Really strong, thinks an arm is a play toy. She will be a challenge.
We started talking about why we have 4 'rescued' animals (the twin cats and now the beagle and the new dog), and concluded that we just like the commotion. We would drive each other nuts without distractions.

Today is the 34th anniversary of the fateful day we married. I'm glad she is a believer in 'for better or for worse'. This year has clearly been worse. But, poco a poco -- I'll be baaaaaak.

That's good to hear. Your place is like that big farm parents tell their kids are going when they have to get rid of them. We've been watching our 1.5 yo boxer's 7 yo grandpa for a week. That has been a handful. Rach's brother told us he had slowed down lately, but it seems time with his grandson has put pep back in his step because he's been almost as energetic as our pup.

We have never owned a boxer. I don't like my dog-training instincts/skills and dogs like boxers, rotts, and other big,strong dogs scare me. for real.
