Contacted one of the shops that has dealt with a ton of late model Shelby guys near Palm Springs. What do you guys think of this statement:

Yes, I have a rear end guy that has been setting up my rear ends for 20+ years.



Unfortunately, if it has been set up with the wrong pattern, the gears are ruined usually. It is my experience that with some 3.73 Ford Racing gears (especially ones made from mid 05-about mid 08) 1 in about 8 would make noise even when set up perfectly. Have not had an issue with the newer Ford Racing gear sets in the last 100+ so far (knock on wood)

Carlos is still around. Yesterday I spoke with him on the phone as his computer needed help, and, he knew who to call. I asked him why he didn't post and he mumbled again about having to learn a new forum format. I can sort of understand that if a person simply uses a computer and is not the least bit interested in computer hardware or software. As most IT's and large businesses know, changes can derail such people since they do not wish to be challenged the least bit when using a computer.

In other news, Carlos is still running those roll on events, which means that his search for more horsepower is still ongoing. We got his computer fixed for the time being, which is not always easy via telephone (but I always enjoy the challenge), and, he said that he would try to post, but, who knows?

I'm not sure about the issues with the specific gears he mentioned, but I have heard that once a pattern is worn into the gears, there's no saving them (in a noise sense). Mizry, a local Ford/Mustang guru who works at a SoCal Ford dealership and roams some car forums, told me this. He built two rear ends for me and both were great with no whining.

I guess that would make sense. The wear on the gears would be specific to how they were setup. Just double checking he isn't talking out of his ass.

FRPP gears usually aren't too expensive either.

Exactly. I'm not one to trust shops, in general, but he sounds legit, so far.
