Interesting. I will have to see what sizes they offer in 18" as I could use a set of sticky 18" radials for Willow and for summer traction. I was even considering some Nitto DR's, but, the MT's stick better in my experience. My current Nitto 555's spin even with moderate throttle and the car goes violently sideways on a full throttle 1->2 shift If the nannies are turned off. It is actually scary and dangerous. But, the 555's are wearing well, considering, so everything is a trade off, as usual.

I don't think that tire would fit on my car, and, in any case, it is too tall and I am already geared to the moon. But, since you have a price, there must be data on the new tires someplace for me to examine.03_SONIC_BLUR wrote:Better have a pocket full of cash. The 305/45/18 are $328!!!!!

That is the only 18 inch tire currently on the M/T website. I suppose other models are coming, There are 3 17 inch tires 2 are 45 profile, 1 is 35Tetge wrote:I don't think that tire would fit on my car, and, in any case, it is too tall and I am already geared to the moon. Yes, I went and looked at the site and I saw what they were offering. The only close match with the stock 18" rubber that I was able to devise when I ordered new rims and rubber were the Nitto 555's in a 245/45 front and a 285/40 rear. Both these tires had a dia. of 26.97", which was close enough to the stock 235/50's. 27.1" dia. Also, both the Nittos fit without scraping or rubbing on anything, even though the fronts were 0.7" wider and the rears 2" wider. They ended up fitting and looking good and the speedo and odo still remained relatively the same as the difference in dia. was trivial. So, the 18" rim size introduced a problem when it came to tire selection as even after extensive research I couldn't find any other matched fit except the 555 Nittos. Unfortunately, I am not very happy with the grip of the 555's although they are wearing OK, and they have adequate grip for grocery getting chores.03_SONIC_BLUR wrote:That is the only 18 inch tire currently on the M/T website. I made a .jpg of my current Nitto choices and I could run a 285/40 NT05, or NT555R rear tire with a NT01 275/40 front (if the additional .78" wide would clear). These tires would not be great in the wet or cold, and they would wear out quickly, but, they should increase the dry grip significantly. Although I am familiar with the NT555R, I am not sure how well the NT05 would grip? But, it is a bunch of coin, and the 555's on the car are not worn out yet. And, I still have my 17" MT DR's on the old Cobra rims for Willow Springs.
