This girl is 100x more legit and deserving than Alex, and doesn't need to dress like a piggy in a bikini for attention.

She seems to have skill.

Her dad provided the car. I think he died late last year, which I would assume is part of her having no sponsors.
She drives a Mustang!

She gave it a good shot. "If a (wo)man's reach doth not exceed her grasp, then what's a heaven for?" (Browning)
I'm proud of her for giving it a shot
She now has Champion as a sponsor, netted $5,000 in the process, and continues doing her thing. And continues to devote her life to her dreams. I don't see how that is a bad thing. I don't understand the gain from laying Richard's actions on her. But I'm just sharing my thought sand the way I did business my whole life, and it turned out ok. I sometimes ignored people, but unless he/she had PERSONALLY boinked me, I have never rooted against a person who is following a dream.
But different strokes for different folks.

Hitler was following a dream. And so have a lot of people who I can not endorse since it is not only about following a dream, but also, how one goes about accomplishing it. I am not, of course, comparing Alex to Hitler, nor am I saying that she is a bad person since I actually do not know her. But, it is said, if you lay down with dogs you get up with fleas, and, Alex certainly is not following a dream entirely of her own creation. And I, for one, do not like dogs with fleas, or, people with fleas.

You took his FREE site for, what, 10 years and when the guy had major issues that YOU have little knowledge of, he is a dog with fleas. I don't get it. Folks are pretty tough here. I say judge a person on the body of his/her work, NOT on the single worst event of his/her life. I understand that folks are locked in solid on their positions, but no one has convinced me (a guy who knew Richard pretty well having worked directly with him) that Richard CHOSE to screw it up so badly at the end.Tetge wrote:Hitler was following a dream. We already know which camp you are in. And, if you recall, I attempted to help out with that site. But, you were not mentioned by name on the place holder that Richard put up after the site was eaten, were you? However, no matter what, I do hold him culpable for not having a copy of the site and/or member contact info to share. After all, he was in the business, so, this should have been relatively easy. And, at the same time, he was still actively working on other projects that involved web sites. So, I will always be of the opinion that although he personally assured us that the site would always be there, in the end he took his ball and went home, and that it was no accident. And, as with you and your spin on it, this remains my opinion. And, as I also have stated, I do not hate Richard and I appreciate the fact that he provide a great free site for a long time. But, his actions at the end were extremely disappointing to me. and since he called me out by name, I have no reservations about returning the favor. To me it was, and it remains, a matter of honor. And, although excuses for lapses of honor can be presented, they carry no weight with me.jhwalker wrote:You took his FREE site for, what, 10 years and when the guy had major issues that YOU have little knowledge of, he is a dog with fleas. Re: Alex WINS Search for a Champion! Signs multi-year contra
The way I remember it, he asked for money twice, not once. We expected that the second time would be like the first. That did not happen
So, over the entirety of the life of the site, it was not "Free". I even remember Dave making a comment about how much I contributed the first time as he felt maybe I had overdone it
Anybody offers me something in exchange for money should not renege. I have a long memory for those things
I may have had use of the site at a discount, but certainly not "Free". I think at a minimum, I paid for the opinion I now hold. I will not be labeled some kind of freeloader as it seems to have been implied
