I've seen that before. Can't recall if it was in an email or on here or another forum board.
Still, very impressive stuff. Tough vehicles, tough folks. Amazing what they did, likely with open differentials and those wagon wheels. Heck, even if they were true "2 wheel drive" with a locking diff, that was some amazing progress.
It shocks me out here to see how little loose sand or even wet grass it takes to absolutely cripple a modern rear wheel drive vehicle, though they must weight Five times what those early vehicles did. Let alone the deep slop those guys were churning through.
I guess it is true that sheer determination and grit can sometimes overcome obvious physical, mechanical and logical limitations.

They had the side windows down, then rolled them up afterwards. But, was that the front windshield they kicked out in one piece when they went to get out?
Sure didn't smoke at all after sitting on it's lid (running?) for all that time.
