Volvo C70 OBD Error P0455

EDIT 3/19/09 - As I said in the last post on this thread, the P0455 PO455 error code was caused by a torn hose right next to the leak detection pump.



Checked vacuum lines at Charcoal Canister and at engine, they are fine.
Charcoal Canister appears to be intact.
Replaced Fuel Filter........it was original and car has 41,xxx miles on it.

Reset the Gas Cap.

Drove car today and the damn code came back.

Drove to auto zone and bought a new gas cap. Cleared code.

I ran the OBD2 EVAP test using scan tool and it did not relight the MIL.

Hoping that solves the problem, or I am going to replace the EVAP purge valve next. Part is only $35 and easy to change.

The gas cap was the fix.

My wife is a smart cookie. That was the first thing she suggested I replace when I said the Check Engine Light illuminated.

I agree....but the damn code came back.

I am convinced it's the Charcoal Canister EVAP valve.

Going to replace that next when I get some more time.

I guess I won the car lottery today.

Their timing was a little off, but, not by much. You should make them refund the money you paid for a new fuel cap. Of course, the problem may not turn out to be the one they are covering.

Fuel cap was a generic for $8. So no big deal.

Gonna bring the car to the dealer tomorrow first thing to have them flash it.

You are absolutely correct that the problem I have isn't the one described in the letter.

P0455 is an EVAP error and I am hoping that the ECM reflash is something that resolves my car's problem.

Can't hurt to have the dealer fix the problem. Later when they admit it was a defect, they can reimburse you for what they charge you tomorrow.

That's what I get for drinking and posting.

I bet the ECM reflash resolves the issue though, because P0455 is an EVAP code regarding fuel tank venting.
