SoCalTerminators gone
As some know SoCalTerminators.com is gone and, since there was no current backup, all the content for the past few years, at least, is lost forever, even if it is hosted again by someone. There is talk about possibly bringing it back, but, its sudden demise left some of the local crew effectively homeless. But, we are adjusting since local activity has lessened over the years as all the drag strips disappeared and/or became restricted and various people moved on for various reasons and we do have e-mail and telephones. However, it was nice to receive an offer from xjrguy to use this site as a springboard if we wished to, so I decided to come over and thank him publicly for his kind offer.

Re: SoCalTerminators gone
So xjrguy,
Are you prepared for the potential madness headed your way? I am tired of pushing my shopping cart through the virtual underworld, searching for a new bridge to sleep under.
What is your official opinion on us openly referring what remains of the few remaining SoCal-T members over here?
I am about to just start spreading the word, but that would mean potentially, a whole new wave of nuts, from supermoto / motorcycle nuts, to car guys, to god knows what else.
Are you all tuned up and in shape to handle such an invasion?
If so, I will pull the trigger and start spreading the word. Who knows what that actually means. You may only get the remaining hard core few, or this may start a whole new wave of new membership from all walks of the motorized internet world.
Chime in with your thoughts. If you are open to such a thing, we will hang a "Grand Re-Opening" sign out front, take all the chairs off the tables, dust off the bar, turn on the neon lights and start passing around the shots. Should this thing really take off, I am willing to help Moderate, sweep the floors and lock up on the nights that you are out of town.
Let us know!
Jay

I would also like to say a big thanks to Tim.
When I registered today, I immediately recognized the dream garage pic, so I know I had been here before. Let's see what madness we can unleash on Tim's house as repayment for his hospitality.

All
This place is as much your home as it is mine.
I never shuttered it due to inactivity because I had hoped someday it would serve a purpose.
Perhaps that day is here.
Whatever I can do to help here just let me know.
Going to work on all suggestions and changes and I will also be open to naming admins too.
I'm here for all of you guys and gals.
Please spread the word. This is run on a pretty beefy machine and I own all the hardware, there are redundant backups and we are on an Internet line with a 4 hour SLA to roll a truck if it goes down.

Re: SoCalTerminators gone
Excellent news.
Who knows... fate plays out in mysterious ways. I've had numerous generous offers from others who host existing Mustang and motorcycle based forum boards, who are willing to adopt our wayward souls. As attractive as that may sound, we are a proud people, and do not wish to impose. Secondly, and likely more importantly, we continue to attempt to recover our lost back ups, so that we can make proper contact and announce where we all are going, and recover contact information for all of those part time members who are still valued, yet only may have lurked about over the years. In addition, we really did value our own "local control" and enjoyed the very casual feel of having a board with little restriction and a self governing Admin staff. That may all be gone. And the farther we move down the timeline, the more likely all those contacts are sinking to the bottom of the internet abyss.
I will miss having ulitmate control, as well as being there for those wandering souls who occassionally drift and out of our company as life and changes in interests, cars, locations and such have a tendency to move us along through life. We had been a nice, stable platform for a very, very long time.
But, looking forward, I am excited to see what the future holds for us. New members, catching up with old friends, learning a new format and hopefully being a part of starting something new do bring a new energy to me along with a hope that we can continue, bigger and better than ever.
We have still not completely given up on recovering at least a portion of our old archives. But, again, that fades as the days go by. So, I embrace the move to the new site and will start spreading the word. Even if on a temporary basis, it provides everyone a convenient place to reconnect, organize events and keep up to date on rapidly developing events, such as all the drama that occurred at the Second Sttars race of the season just last week.
At the same time, it makes use of this site, which has been sitting here in the driveway idling away, just waiting for someone to jump in the driver seat and give her a good run around the block! So lets see where this takes us, and hope that everyone enjoys it for the moment, even should the near impossible occur and we get at least an old portion of the SoCal-T site back up and running. It is always good to have options and hook up with old friends.
So, thanks again Tim, and let us know if there is anything we can do while we are here to help out and show our appreciation for your hospitality.

I hate to whore this thread up, so I will anyway, but, honestly, echo what Brakelate said.

We are famous post whores so it is always fun to be allowed to post away. I suppose that every once in awhile something useful or entertaining may come out of the posts but if you put enough chimps at enough typewriters........xjrguy wrote:There is a lot of good energy here!
