spell check

Post by Tetge »

Did I missa spell check function? If not, there is a great freeware program called iespell that works just fine here http://www.iespell.com/ . Very small footprint and a great little freeware app. Just right click and check the spelling........

That's a good idea.

I use Apple's Safari browser that does built in spell checking.

Very trick and pretty accurate.

I love the feature and miss it when using Internet Explorer at work.

I dislike built in anything. I hate FireFox when it underlines my spelling errors. I prefer being able to control it. However, whatever works should be fine. And, of course, I am a PC person so a lot of my good programs would not work for Linux or Apples....

And, BTW, I see Firefox when I use Ubuntu 7.04 which I installed as a Window's program on computer #2 on my desktop. Pretty impressive that Ubuntu and the best Linux experience I have had over many years even if, unfortunately, it does remind me of Apple OS X stuff, which is not at all pleasant. :|

The nice thing about Apple's Safari spell check is that it's not intrusive.

It politely underlines the offending word with a mocking red underline.

If you want to make the correction, you simply right click the word and choose the correct replacement.

Voila! 8-)

That is how FireFox works too, but, I do not consider red underlines polite. Word also bugs me, but, all nags and prompts irritate me. My computer has speakers but they are always off and all the little cute noises are defeated in all programs that allow them to be turned off. No wizards. No tutorials. No bloat if at all possible.
