That kinda made me miss drag racing. I'm still diggin these new cars, though I don't know how long it's going to take me to wrap my head around a 4-cyl sound coming from a Mustang. There's definitely more ET to be had out of each of those cars, based on the trap speeds they pulled. I'm thinking, if they did the PMachy driver mod, they'd shave at least a couple tenths off.

Impressive to some extent, but, all the cars had Performance Rear Subframe Kits (what ever they may be); Heavy Duty Half Shaft Kits (why doesn't the 5.0 already come with the most heavy duty half shafts available?); Drive shaft safety loops; Prototype off road exhausts (hardly a street car); headers on the n/a 5.0; and Hoosier slicks on Weld Wheels. They also said that they did some changes on the air intake system and of course they tweaked the tune. I saw a blue blower that they were using to cool the engines with so who knows what tricks they used to enhance their results. You can bet that they used 93 octane at least. And, they did not show the slips, so, were the times corrected? They did not mention if they changed final drive ratios but as it stands, there were lots of mods that had to cost quite a bit, and some of the parts were prototypes, and then the non supercharged 5.0 ran a 11.77 after spending all that money. Good, but, not earth shaking when one compares it to what could be done with the same money spent on a Terminator, which would have got 10's for sure on pump gas.

As a final note, Milan drag strip is at 593' elevation, which is almost the same as Famoso. So, depending on when they were there, the DA could have been pretty decent. Too bad that they didn't run some stockers to compare, but early reports have the stock 5.0 being a 1/10 slower than the older one, which means that it will not be guaranteed that people will even get into the 12's with a new GT. So, the numbers of bone stock cars may not be anything that Ford wishes to tout.

At the end of the vid, they showed all three slips for the best times for each car, side-by-side-by-side.

Thanks. I was guilty of stopping watching after the action was over and it seemed that it had gone to a commercial for Ford. I just sort of assumed that they would have shown the time slips if they were going to, since I personally put so much value on them. Interesting that the three slips were all from different days. The 60' times were pretty decent, so, apparently, they had a good driver, or drivers. I still wish that they had run stockers at the same time for comparison purposes. I got the point that they wanted to be the first to run the numbers, but, they did not do so with street legal machines.

PS: At least my auto slug 5.0 was quicker at Famoso than their modded up four cylinder car! I was worried for a bit that I was going to be dusted by a bunch of four cylinder turbo Mustangs, and that wouldn't be right.

I also looked at the splits on their 11.77 time slip and from the 1/8th to the 1/4, when my car at Famoso finally sort of got onto its power band, my 5.0 only took 0.0628 sec longer than their car to cover the second half of the 1/4. It makes me wonder how quickly I could go if I could get a decent 60' time since my best 60' was 1.949, while they managed a 1.5723!

I liked it. I really am curious what rear end gears they were running (stock, Ford Racing Package options, or deep aftermarket ratios - I imagine they would have had to come clean with the latter in the mods list to retain credibility).

Isn't the '15 supposed to have an available Eco-Boost V-6, or have they just limited it to the 4 cylinder as far as turbos go?

Just reminds me of how hard I had to work to get that '01 Cobra into the 12's at the various tracks. And that car could 60' and sure sounded sweet (as well as felt good with the 4.30 gears out on the road). Shit. Maybe it was time to sell the Terminator after all and look forward, not that I could afford even the base 4 cyl turbo at this point (and I agree Juan, that "ricer" exhaust note REALLY rubs me the wrong way.... I don't care if IT was the one cracking into the 10's!

Just the 2.3L Ecoboost, the V6 is NA. Allegedly this 2.3L is going into the Focus RS.

Jeeze, they put the V-6 Eco-Boost in the Taurus, the Explorer whatever it's now called, and is an option as an AWD platform in all the new "Police Interceptor" variants, it only seems right to put it in the new Mustang as well.

Now THAT would be a interesting twist; A hotted up Eco-Boosted V-6, with the AWD in the Mustang chassis, to compete with the Subi WRX's and Mitsubisi Evos!

Amazing someone hasn't thrown one of those together yet.... if nothing else as a factory "experiment", test mule or even just a SEMA demo car with all the bolt on speed goodies to demonstrate what could be done, should the market support it.
