Cool!

My aunt and uncle live in Virginia and I am originally from NJ.

Even though the forum is "LA" Speedgarage, everyone from everywhere is welcome (except for these pesky forum spam robots I've been fighting lately!)

Polk Audio, famous for their loudspeakers has a forum for audio enthusiasts on its corporate website which is free of charge and they are very very cool about moderating the forums. The company even goes so far as to not censor or edit forum postings criticizing some of their products (subwoofers come to mind here!) There have been some pretty lively discussions over there, but nothing highbrow which is nice.

If you go to http://www.polkaudio.com there is a link to the forum there.

I'm into all things audio so I've been a member there for a couple years.

In the offtopic section I posted a link that I had started a car enthusiast forum and that anyone was welcome.

My home theater consists of a pretty sweet Polk speaker setup and since the forum is giving away a PSW10 Polk subwoofer I figured the members over there might want to come check out LA Speedgarage.

Odd that you ding the Subwoofer, though that is what is the Grand Prize Give Away. What are you telling us?

I actually own two Polk subwoofers and I absolutely love them.

Some people on the polk forum prefer different brands, such as SVS or Hsu Research. These two companies make subwoofers that are only available via direct sales. SVS is legendary for producing subwoofers that at 1/3 the price of other high end brands, basically blow the doors off the higher priced speakers.

The Polk subwoofers tend to be more "musical" then digging down low for home theater. More punch vs. shake the walls.

But, my dual, stacked PSW1000's with (4) 10 inch drivers have no problem shaking the shit out of our house.

Different strokes for different folks.

I was just very impressed that Polk would allow their own products to be negatively discussed on their own forums. That really impressed me.

Again, anything in audio is purely subjective.

I have a neighbor with the bass that shakes the walls and it shakes my place too even with all the doors and windows shut and my TV up loud. They should outlaw all loud stereos on the premise that only idiots would use equipment that clearly will make them deaf.
