I've heard battery tech is now good enough for driving as well.They'll keep om getting better with the batteries too.

Is the tesla car the precurser of things to come?
As long as batteries are standardized, and can be swapped out at gas stations to extend the range, it is a very good alternative.
With less vibration and moving parts, an electric will last longer. Even if it's power comes from fossil fuel plants, it's still a plus for the environment because generating plants are more efficient than a bunch of beat-up, out-of-tune internal combustion engines.
And face it, the car is WAY COOL.

THEY ARE TRYING TO MAKE IT THAT WAY. THE TESLA CARS ARE BAD ASS. THEY ARE BASED UP THE STREET FROM WHERE I WORK. I SEE THE CARS ALL THE TIME THEY ARE FAST.
