Must be four years ago now, I helped (as a lowly gopher) Neil Hanneman run a GT40 owners' driving school at Willow Springs. As a bonus, he let me out onto the track in my GLHS. Anyway, in the course of the event, I caught a ride in a twin turbo GT40 (the owner also had a Whipple GT40) and from the passenger seat I saw an indicated 160 mph down that short front straight. The noisiest part of the ride was the "graunch" that the right rear tire made as the owner/driver set the car's entry into #1.

I've never been in a GT40 on a track, but have had some hellacious rides on some deserted roads. It always reminded me of a space ship with wheels. I was already too old to want one.

I also had some fun rides in a Superformance Daytona Coupe where we demonstrated that the air vents would blow off the car (at that time) at 150 mph. That was on a road outside of Las Vegas that was devoid of traffic. Good memories.
