John is indeed special. But, he is not unique as old Brit bikes fanciers all appear to be re-engineers at heart, and they spend countless amounts of time perfecting old tech crocks. Sometimes it even works, but, they do not get discouraged if it doesn't as they just keep on trying. The Charger is almost as fast as a Velocette single....

Yep, that supercharged 1939 Velocette "porcupine" might have gone 200 if WWII (and post war change of rules) had not aborted it's development.

Actually, I was thinking of the current, or fairly current, world's fastest Velocette. It is a tad modified from stock, but, it went mighty fast at 193+ MPH, so, I guess it was not faster than the Dodge, but, maybe next time, as it is a work in progress.
