But, where is the video?

In other news, my brother finally swung his leg over his DR-Z SM and took a ride for the first time since last December, Sunday. His incision from the knee replacement has long since healed but, the knee persists in being inflamed and he has yet to get really satisfactory range of motion, even after many, many sessions of PT. He is riding his bicycle, which he alleges the PT sadists endorse, but, which he also says, continues to be very painful. But, as a bicyclist since he was a teen, mere pain from pedaling is not going to stop him. In fact, my guess is that he missed the pain, since he started to ride to work and back almost as soon as he could manage a complete rotation on a stationary bike.

But, the motorcycle ride was a big event for him as he has been, and continues to be, depressed about how rehab is progressing. It seems that for some, a year or two is not unusual, in spite of tales of those that get knees replaced and are playing tennis two months later.

So, all the rehab folks out there have to continue to fight the good fight. It almost makes me have some respect for people like Kobe who have serious operations and then work themselves back into shape enough to compete at a high level. I figure that if they can do it, perhaps anyone can. So, I work up the energy to walk down and check to see if I got any mail. It is a long 100', each direction, so, if necessary I take a couple of rest breaks. But, as Walker noted, and, I understand perfectly, it is still good to be alive. I guess it is another aspect of bring aged when you start to weigh the quality of your life against being deceased! As in, I had the mother of all hangovers today, but, at least it didn't kill me.

Now off to wait for the NBA finals to come on TV. I am hoping that I will be entertained and that the games will be close. I will watch them, since, I have to scout the competition, because next year is definitely going to be the Clipper's year to be champions.

But, where is the video? It would be nice to hear how the car sounds with the latest power plant in it?

if the folks who where filming don't want to post, not my problem. I posted a couple of short sound clips last year when I did the Colorado to North Dakota to Pardeeville, Wisconsin and back to Colorado drive. No change in sound since. :violin:

I thought that exterior video of the car in action might be interesting. But, I understand that it is not subject to your control. I was just testing to see if you still monitored this thread.

The last few weeks have been a challenge. Driving the car on the track may have pulled some stuff in the shoulder I fell on a couple of months ago. The left arn is very numb and even lessfeeling in the left hand. But my left leg is improving.

Terri is flying to the US for 'meetings' -- aka take a break from taking care of me... so I am ordering
http://www.evotech-performance.com/duca ... 15-onwards -- and she will carry it back in her luggage so I can have something to work on while getting "ok to ride". I am also going to try to convert the wheels to tubeless as another project. That kit is here...
I have another long, difficult vision test next Saturday as part of trying to get clearance to drive. Getting medical clearance is a defensive move for insurance purposes.
 I have the REXXER ecu mod stuff here, but am afraid to try to do that kind of work on the bike right now (meow)

So, your balance and reaction times and feel and all the things that one needs to ride a motorcycle are improved enough to contemplate riding? Funny, I rode up to the Old Ridge Route last weekend and I almost put my KTM up for sale as I was wobbling around and freaking out in the corners and I got passed by what appeared to be a couple in their 80's in a Prius. I had to pull over and wave them by when they caught up to me in a really twisty section of the road.

So, in my case, old age appears to have caught up with me big time. The KTM felt so loose to me that I actually pulled over to check to see if one, or both, of my tires were flat. It also felt as it the steering head bearings were really loose and the bike had a hinge in the middle of it. I was loudly lamenting my condition, and the GoPro was on, but, when I got home and went to transfer the video from the camera, the camera locked up and deleted the video. So, I can not make the youtube video to prove that I am actually telling the truth.

Disregarding crazy old Mike the bike, as there are always exceptions, it must be even worse for someone a lot older than I am! But, you are ordering more parts for your Scrambler, so I guess you expect to ride it.

Ride Mtn bike first. Then I have to sustain a wheelie on it, and then I will consider riding a motorcycle. I still have to pass the eye test this Saturday.
Tonight I ran about 15 steps. It is difficult to land and push off on the bad leg, and it tries to buckle, but I have pussied around long enough.
Maybe I try to ride the DRZ S first. God knows i have already beaten the poop out of it.
The minute I get a good Ducati ride I'll order the new pipe, and that will (almost) be it for the mods. The tubeless tire conversion, the engine guard, the Rexxer ecu mod, the pipe, and maybe the Ohlin (sp) rear shock. or  :?:

It is a slow day since although at a mere 105* it is the coolest day forecast in weeks, it is still too hot to do much. But then, I remembered that I had defiled Walker's Ducati thread in weeks. One gets sort of absent minded in their old age and the heat also seems to addle me even more.

But, how does one defile a Ducati thread? I mean, Ducati's are so beloved by reviewers and their bling crazed owners that one would be intimidated to even suggest anything defiling about them. No, we all bow down in reverence toward Italy or toward Pro Italia, which ever is closer. I personally pull over to the shoulder and yield immediately if encounter on a ride. But, fortunately, this is infrequent as the places where I ride are blue collar and Ducati's, and their dealerships, are not located in such areas.

But, I will say that fitted with a nice $2000-$3000 exhaust mod, a Ducati can sound really great. So they are not all bad.....

There, I think that is sufficient defiling for the time being. I feel much better now.
