Father's day on the MAC and CUB

Post by Thruxton71 »

Not much to report from last week, another trouble free ride up 33 on the Suzuki, with a detour to the trailhead at the end of Rose Valley (Piedra Blanca trailhead, https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/lpnf/re ... ecid=11010) a nice ride down some really bad roads.. perfect for the DRZ, then back to Ojai and breakfast at Don Lalos. Good day..

But this Sunday was Father's day, and I took the MAC, and my daughter was going to meet up with the crew at 7am on her new Honda Cub. She brought her Husband, who was riding a 600 Suzuki he uses for Track days. Then there was the V65 Guzzi, and the Miata. We took off for my destination with my daughter, up Dennison grade to Sulphur Mountain road, which I rode on the MAC just a couple of weeks ago, and thought it would be perfect for the little cub.

Part way up Dennison I waved track boy by, then the Guzzi up on the top. I didn't see them or the Miata again till we reached the Gate at top of the climb up Sulphur. I kept my daughter in my mirror (such as it is, more of a suggestion of a reflection, but I can interpret it well) all the way up the torturous climb, and after regrouping, we sent all the fast boys off and descended. I followed, and watched her ride, all the way back into Ojai proper. I love descending Dennison on my MAC, and was actually able to enjoy the Cub pace! Very smooth. I later told her that her riding style was very much like an old friend of mine, Pat Peddicord, who always, always tracked a smooth steady line around a corner, never apexing. He was an old flattracker, and they do not apex corners.

From Ojai..
