Hmm, I think I'd be happy with 82. Maybe this post will pop into my head in my last days, and I'll say, "Yet again, Pat was right."Tetge wrote: ↑Mon Mar 09, 2020 11:29 pmThe Social Security Administration provides a calculator that gives you the exact number of years and months you have left, based upon entering only your sex and date of birth. Some say that the calculator is not sophisticated and there was a disclaimer below the results reflecting the fact that individual results cold vary. But, it is sort of interesting to see what the statistics say, even though they are not actually worth anything on an individual basis.

Welcome to beautiful, sunny California! It's forecasted to rain all week through Monday.

Re: Life Changes
The funny thing is that if you play around with the year of your birth, you will find that to some extent, the older you make yourself, the longer your projected life span will be. So, if you add 10 years to your age, I would bet that the result will be more than 82, if that is your current result. I also think that this simply reflects the fact that aging, to some extent, is genetic, so, as one gets older and older, those that are genetically inclined to shorter life spans are weeded out, and this is reflected statistically, as the 100 year old, and over, population continues to grow in the USA, and, the closer you get to 100, the more statistical effect that growing population has on the chances that you will survive to join it. That said, I did not make myself 95 to see what it said........SonicVenum wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2020 6:51 am

Re: Life Changes
So, it was you that brought the rain! But, from my vantage point, rain is never a bad thing, as it brings only good to the arid desert region known as SoCal. Of course, it helps to be retired as I have dim memories of horrific traffic on rainy days. I also decided not to wash my disgustingly filthy car a couple of weeks ago, due to my thought that it might rain at some time. This turned out to be wise, even though I had to endure thumbs down and shouted insults from the general public for bringing such shame and dishonor to the Mustang community. But, I am getting used to that, as others were rolling down their windows and screaming at me that I drove like an old man, and why did I have a Mustang if I obviously could not drive it properly? It is tough out there on the mean streets for cautious, law abiding timid drivers. Also, my Mustang is so weak and slow that I get scared, and try to find some place to make a turn, every time some import revs on me. I think that they can sense my weakness....
But, I digress.

I read the Ca DMV drivers guide last nite, took and (1 error) passed the exam today, passed the eye exam and am legal until age 82 I think.
Take cover!
A concert we planned on attending has been cancelled, a charity event cancelled, but our medical stuff is rolling along. Doc agreed with me 'no knee replacement'.
The new heart doc is a good chap.
All good so far. This covid 19 stuff is annoying...

Re: Life Changes
Congrats on the license renewal. It scared me, but, it was the motorcycle endorsement that was the worry, as I can study their take on motorcycling endlessly and never understand it since they have no clue as far as I can see.
Covid-19 is bad enough, but, I got out early this morning to the most expensive local store to grab a few supplies, and, there were isles of completely barren shelves as panic buyers had cleaned them out. Zero frozen vegetables as well, and canned vegetables were gone. Even potatoes were scarce, as they had corned beef on sale, and cabbages, and they were still in stock, and one needs potatoes with corned beef and cabbage. Even early in the morning the usually deserted store was crowded, and shoppers were pushing carts that were loaded to the very top, and beyond. It reminded me of stores after the Northridge quake, but, I can not understand why people are going nuts this time. However, I figure that after a bit, everyone will be so supplied that they will not have any room left for additional hoarding, and things will return to normal.
Not that it matters, since, per the news, all the elderly are goners anyway.

Glad you're still legal to drive! This virus thing is getting pretty ridiculous. Our local Costco was completely out of TP and bottled water the week before last, luckily we didn't need either. We went again this past week, and lines were very long at midday on a Wednesday, and they had put up signs limiting people to 2 packs of TP and 2 packs of water per member. I'm not sure if these people understand how this virus works.
I'm most bummed out that the F1 and MotoGP seasons have been postponed. I was really looking forward to the end of the off season, and now it has been extended another two months plus. At least we got to see Moto2 race in Qatar, and it was a good race.
I feel really bad for the wifey and her co-workers. Working at the appointment center for a major medical provider is never fun, but it is even worse right now.

Yes, it has to be crazy at her work.
We are thinking about just flying back home. Before Mexico closes the border We have handled the critical stuff we came up to do. Still need to meet with our tax guy.

Prep for my back surgery is well underway. Look like 4 vertebrae have issues that should be corrected. I think that the cause could be either/or the gokart hit or my bike wreck here. both involved a violent hit to my lower back. Anyway, having been in crybaby pain for a couple of months, I look forward to the cleanup.
Rehab time will be short, they say.
