Watching from Mexico, sure looks like a mess. Are all accounted for? Anyone talk to John? .

We're good here. One shed, no houses burned in Santa Paula. Ventura took a major hit

Here in SP, the fire burned down to the backyards of some of the houses at the top of the hill behind me. Fortunately, they're all pretty new construction with the latest fire code regulations, so they didn't catch fire. The two night shots were taken Monday night during the worst of it from a couple of miles away from home. We were evacuated. The day shot out my back door was taken Tuesday morning

In Sylmar, we're OK.

House was 5 blocks from mandatory evacuation zone; scary, bags packed, car facing out; electric gate left open, power went out, candles all night. My new corrugated steel shed roof, which wraps around two sides of 4 car garage, survived 70 MPH winds. :o

Office was inside evacuation zone on Monday and Tuesday. Police are still limiting entry. Got into office today, smells like a fireplace, ash somehow sneaks in and gets onto every surface. Fire still going on other side of Sand Canyon. Wind still blowing.

Wish we had good drone footage but drones, they say, are dangerous; not that the authorities are opposed to anything that might lead to second guessing of their decisions, dontchaknow.

I find the drones to be A GIANT PIA. One group of folks is charged with the task/responsibility of attempting to control an dangerous situation. Another group of numb-nuts want to get some video to the market. I am clearly biased on this, having a son fighting the fires, who tells me how they have to plan around intrusive drones. Feel the same about active shooter situations.
But this thread is about the fires, so i'll stick a sock in it -- for this thread.

Glad to see everyone safe. Hate watching it.

Ryan is getting ready for knee surgery that will require 6 months of rehab.

My Terminator has been sitting in a shop in Fillmore since last weekend. I was a little worried when the owner called me on Tuesday asking me to get my car out when I had no ability to get up there anytime soon. Looks like everything is OK in that area now luckily.

My brother-in-law got a evacuated from Sylmar and was out of his house for most of the week. He says it still stinks like smoke pretty bad.
