Life Changes
1. Terri and I have started the process of returning to the USA. Why? Why not?
I need to stay busy, and we have done most of the rational projects on this property.
We want to build again, but not build again here.
San Miguel and Mexico are more dangerous now than when we bought the property in 2005. I am more on alert (think anxious lol) -- partly old age, partly the result of the strokes. But, after years of fun here it is less fun now. We expect it to take a year or two to sell. It will take the right buyer -- large loans are tough here, and I'm not going to be the bank. . We plan to keep traveling here and world-wide until we finally leave. No regrets, it has been a lot of fun.
2. I'm selling the SPF. boo hoo I'm dangerous driving it (probably always was … ) Post strokes, it scares the crap out of me. My brain simply does not compute the issues involved in driving fast safely. And driving slow bores me...
3. I'm reclaiming the family boat from the boys -- Terri wants to spend time on the water again, and it sounds good to me.
Other than those few things, steady she goes

Oh, wow, definitely big changes. I hope you find senor right buyer quickly! Do you have an idea of where in the US you'd want to relocate? I'm sure the SPF will sell quickly.

Yes, life does change and we all find ourselves in new and unexpected circumstances. Best wishes for you both and I’m sure you’ll be near family

Re: Life Changes
I meant to mention that anyone who wants to visit at the casa needs to 'jump on it'. We have had a bunch of visitors, but none from laspeedgarage…
We are looking at the South -- Tennessee mountains, N Georgia, N Carolina, Arkansas
Will be interesting. Terri wants to be able to visit the grandkids more easily
I'm betting 2 years

Re: Life Changes
Things are really bad crime wise down here, so, come visit? It is sad that what you are experiencing cleaves to the stereotype that many in the USA have of lawless Mexico, but, it does not surprise me at all, as it certainly is nothing recent or new, from an historical point of view. The fact remains that things, such as law and attitude, are actually very different once one crosses the border, and I always has an attack of culture clash the minute that I entered Mexico. I have not been there now for many years due to disappointing visits some years ago, but, if the reports and the US State Dept. warnings of dangers contain truths, it is still unruly for those of us unaccustomed to highway robberies and home invasions and open corruption in all levels of government and society. Naturally, the majority of the people are just normal serfs trying to get by, same as here. But, the system allows the bad guys to be much more brazen, and a very high birth rate and considerable poverty drives creates a ready supply of soldiers for the criminal gangs.
As I said, too bad, as the country itself is nice in parts, and the culture has some fine attributes along with the bad ones. At least it appears that it can not be over the top bad, as you are willing to stay for a possibly protracted length of time to sell the property.
As for the SPF, it is only a toy, and, as with my KTM, there may come a time when a person is no longer able to properly deal with a vehicular toy. So, passing it along to someone who can, or thinks they can, is a good thing. I was there when you got tossed out of Famoso, but, you still managed to go quicker than my Terminator ever could prior to getting tossed and it was only a "stock" 427, at the time. I was also at RET on 01/12/08, and the 427 put out good enough numbers for such a light car. Hard to believe that was 11.5+ years ago...................
