I have the phrase "Folded like a cheap suit" running around my brain. The Clippers will never see the Conference Championship round

Re: Clippers!
Being a Clipper fan for more years than I can remember, I can appreciate that special, losing, style that the Clippers seem to bring to basketball, no matter who the coach, players, or, owner is. So, I have complete confidence that today, the Clippers will not disappoint me and that the real Clippers will show up, as they do every year.03_SONIC_BLUR wrote:I have the phrase "Folded like a cheap suit" running around my brain. However, the Clippers do have enough physical talent, if they were not all mental, to win. And C Paul is the most hungry and aggressive floor leader that they have ever had. But, after last game, it seems that they are doomed since winning is both physical and mental.
But, I will watch the game, unless my gin runs out, or I pass out. And, as a fan, I will cheer them on and I will attempt to believe that they are somehow going to defy the odds (in play off 7th games, the home team basically has won them all statistically) and win on the road. Jordan is going to hit all his free throws and the 3 point shots are all going in and Howard is going to miss all his free throws and foul out and Houston is going to brick all their shots. It will be a cakewalk for the Clippers, enabled by the amazing play of their powerful and reliable bench.
So, there is nothing to worry about.

Re: Clippers!
Going in down 10 after playing that 1st half seems like they can win this with a good effort. Huh? Wishful thinking?

Re: Clippers!
Listening to those 3 idiots at halftime you would think that Houston was up by 30.

So we finally had some humor. Chris Paul tried to make a baby with Dwight Howard...

Another Clippers season. But, based upon what I saw, Houston will have a better chance versus the Warriors. But, if the Warriors do their thing, I think that they will win everything because when they are on, they rain threes.jhwalker wrote:So we finally had some humor. Re: Clippers!
I did not understand the game vibe.
Barnes -- usually an energy source looked like someone stole his puppy. Very dis-engaged.
Griffin -- not confident at all.
Redick, Crawford -- seemed prone to errors.
The Clipper team that played last game Q4 and this game would not have stood a chance against the Spurs, IMHO.
The calls make a lot of difference. The Beard is back as a ref favorite, and gets the call when folks get near him. But the Clips -- Chris Paul excepted -- did not seem to believe that this game could be won. Me no entiendo... Kinda sad to watch, but I understand that I only recently started watching them so don't really understand the Clips.

I think I saw somewhere that Houston had 41 free throw attempts and the Clips had 17? I didn't watch cause I'm not a Clips fan. Seems a bit one-sided to me. What I did see of the games, when Griffin went in low, things went well. When he didn't, they sucked
Maybe next year?

Re: Clippers!
Houston was the better team, and, with a seven game series this is fairly certain. The fact that Houston won three in a row, against the odds, just makes them all that much better. From shortly after the beginning of the season, I said that the Clippers were not going anywhere in the playoffs due to the exceptionally poor play of their bench. And, in fact, it was the Houston bench that saved the day for Houston. There are no iron men capable of playing all out for 48 minutes, in the NBA, and I thought that Blake and Paul both got fatigued and made mistakes.03_SONIC_BLUR wrote:I think I saw somewhere that Houston had 41 free throw attempts and the Clips had 17? But, the past few years, the Clippers have not had a terrible team, so they can entertain at times. But, as time has passed, I have become less and less interested in sports on TV. I think part of that is the fact that with DirectTV or cable, there are so many games available to watch that they are not special anymore. And, rules have changed, or have not been enforced, and some games looks almost like different sports. In that respect, golf is a lot more pure, and even tennis has stayed a bit closer to its roots.
I watched drag racing from Georgia yesterday, and it was pretty boring as well, especially since the left lane sucked. But taking three hours to present 5 minutes of racing action stretches my patience to the breaking point.

Re: Clippers!
There is now a bunch of yakking about dissention on the Clips that had not been reported. Some of the key players are supposed to not like each other -- even a little bit. Others are saying Rivers should be the coach but not both coach and GM. General criticism of the bench has commenced.
This will be ugly, and I am confident some significant changes will occur. The Clipper curse must end! Somehow I don't see the salary cap being an issue with Ballmer.
