Re: Movies you have seen recently...
Wow, that guy is really flip-flopping on his feelings for the film. I'm guessing the gay theme some critics commented on was the impetus for his outrage. Unless he really is mentally unstable, he doesn't come off in a great light in the film. The character comes across as very mentally weak, which is surprising considering the mental grind high-level wrestling is.
In the end, it is just supposed to be entertainment, and I probably shouldn't do so much research anymore.

But I headed off to do the same research. I understand. You DID note that Foxcatcher was not named Foxcatcher until after the mother died, right?SonicVenum wrote:Wow, that guy is really flip-flopping on his feelings for the film. I'm done. I have not had a movie generate this much mental energy for a long time, probably not since Spring Breakers

Re: Movies you have seen recently...
I'm going to attempt to resurrect this thread. No more dragging it down with facts.
We've watched a bunch of stuff since April. I'm sure I can't remember all of them. In no particular order:
Jurassic World... liked it a lot. Chris Pratt is awesome, and the kid actors were likable.
Home... good kids movie that adults can sit through.
Blue Ruin... good, different, but good.
Insurgent... meh, better than Divergent, but still based on the same weak/tired premise.
There are others, but I can't recall. How about anybody else? James, I'm guessing you've been busy with the Duc adventure.

Re: Movies you have seen recently...
Life in general has been a blur recently. Terri and I keep saying that we are going to pick a movie and watch it, but it does not happen. The approval of the new gun club and trying to get the infrastructure in place, the Ducati, another project at the casa -- I am worn out. Tomorrow morning up at 4am again to fly to LA for 5 days which will also be busy up there.
OK, folks. Anyone other than Juan watching movies?

Oh, we also saw Mad Max: Fury Road. It was decent, not worth the ticket prices at a theater, but well worth the nothing I paid for it. I haven't seen the original since I was a kid, and I remember almost nothing from then. I'll have to re-watch and compare. So many things are just weird, and I'd like to see if the original had the same level of unexplained weirdness.

The original Mad Max served as the basis for many, many episodes of my dream life...

We went and saw The Visit this past weekend. It's the latest film from M. Night Shyamalan. After thinking his work was declining, and absolutely HATING The Happening, I was wary about this film. I was all set to wait for it to be available online, but a friend of mine gave it a positive review, so I thought it would be worth a shot. I wasn't disappointed. I can't say I enjoyed it quite as much as some of his best work, but it was still pretty good. This was a departure for him, in a sense, because most of the cast is relatively unknown. The biggest name in the film is Katherine Hahn, which says a lot about how unknown the cast is. The acting was all very well done, especially the kids, who were by far the stars. I'd recommend it, but I'd also recommend you try not to hear/read anything about it before watching it.

Cool. Terri and I say that we are going to see movies when we visit the USA and then are always too busy.SonicVenum wrote:We went and saw The Visit this past weekend. It's the latest film from M. Tetge, have you been to the movies since they introduced sound and color?

Not a big fan of movies for some reason. But, it is interesting to hear that they have introduced sound and color. When did that happen?jhwalker wrote: Tetge, have you been to the movies since they introduced sound and color?

The Martian -- did anyone see it? A friend here in SMdA saw it and thought it was very good.
