Movies you have seen recently...

Post by jhwalker »

None. But when I visit Terri later this month (she just flew up to SoCal for some work yesterday with Ryan) we are gonna see a few.

Any of you guys going to the movies?

It seems that your Spanish must be getting pretty good if you can go to the movies and understand them. I never have a clue what they are saying if I hit the wrong button on the controller and get a Spanish language station. All I really know in Spanish is "Margarita" and "Carnitas". But, that's really all a person has to know.

As for movies? I sometimes use pay for view on DirectTV, but, I haven't seen any movies in a long time that I would recommend. But, then again, I am not in tune with the movie scene at all.

Watched some stuff over the holidays with the family in town, so most of it is older, "Red Box" variety, not the absolute current crop currently in theatres.

"Meet the Millers" was entertaining, but could have been much better. But, well worth the watch, for a few laughs and especially the Jennifer Anniston shots of her playing stripper. Sort of like "True Lies" with Arnold and Jamie Lee Curtis doing her little strip tease scene... that was a great movie IMHO, but that clip made it a timeless classic, to me.

We also watched "Elysium" (Sp?) which was pretty good for a Sci-Fi action thriller.

I hate to admit it, but I also went back and sat through "Despicable Me" and have Part II ready to go. For some reason, these cartoon movies are so good now a days, they suck you in and can be quite good.

Anyone seen "Wolf of Wall Street"? I heard it was a good watch that had the bleeding hearts bitching about the lack of showing the consequences to the "leetle peepul". Along that same vein, the guy who was lead for Apollo Global Mgt when Apollo bought us, killed us, brought us back to life, grew us back and flipped us is now #222 on the Forbes 400, up from #311 last year. Said to have a net worth of $2.5 Billion -- I had to translate that to 2,500 million, since I don't understand billions. I guess that shows what hard work will get you. Plus buying and selling companies...

I must try to find that clip on youtube. :-D

I kinda enjoyed that True Lies thing with James Lee Curtis, but kept ready to cover my eyes if the wrong item popped out... ;)

Saw Anchorman 2... very disappointed by it. It was a mess. I liked the first Anchorman. I was looking forward to this one and it let me down in a big way. :snooty:

I also saw American Hustle this past weekend. LOVED it! It looked good even though I could never really tell what the hell it was about. One could say it's about a bunch of guys with really bad hair. One could also say it has a great cast, great writing, and superb acting.

Maybe we will see American Hustle. I saw Mud two nights ago and I recommend it. A Matthew McConaughey film, not a repeat of any film I can remember.

Spring Breakers. :o What a strange movie, mixture of all sorts of stuff. Franco has some of the weirdest lines ever.

I highly recommend it. :-D
