Took the KTM out today to test

I wanted to run some fuel through the KTM as I had not ridden it in 6 months, and, I fact, I wanted to make sure it was working well so I could sell it, since I never ride. I also wanted to test the Sennheiser Action Mic for the GoPro4 that I got, to see how it would handle the wind since it is mounted on the bottom front of my helmet directly in the path of the oncoming wind. I made a video showing how the microphone worked, and, in my opinion, it worked well. But, in riding the KTM, I immediately discovered that riding a light, agile, very responsive, motorcycle, rocks, even if it is a horribly unreliable and expensive to own and maintain, machine. I'd forgotten how good it could feel just to cruise around at a mild pace on a naked bike. And, by the time I got home, I'd scraped the idea of selling the bike right now. I can wait and sell it later this year when I fail the written test for renewal of my motorcycle license endorsement. Us elderly folks have to show in person and we get no extensions and they make us take eye tests and written tests. This is all legal and not considered age discrimination because driving is a priviledge and they get to decided what requirements there are, including taking age into consideration. But, the written test for motorcycles is still based upon ignorant rules, and is hard for me to understand no matter how hard I try. It appears that everyone must ride a cruiser from the way DMV says a person should ride and react.

In any case, the sound came out very nice, although I do have good surround sound on my computer, which may be required to appreciate the quality.

I own view property in Juniper Hills, not far at all, as in easy walk, from where I commented about it being the Mojave Desert. I have been sleeping on your so called uninteresting road for many, many years. So, I know that the road can be interesting indeed, and, in fact it has a jump in it that has got my wheels off the ground in the past before I reformed and became a cruiser. But, the video was really about the Sennheiser Action Mic and how well it handles wind noise, not about corner carving, which, of course, I do not do, as a cruiser.

I also saw another comment that seemed to say that I was doing the ton, of all things. And me, a cruiser, being polite as there are side streets and driveways and horses. One of the locals even waved at me as I cruised by, and they all hate speeders. Must have been glare on the speedo display or something, as I never speed anymore, and, in any case, it is uphill, and the KTM is just a single, so it had to be a glitch. Hell! A Fiat 500 almost beat me up the hill..............

In any case, being reformed, as it were, is so relaxing that I now realize that I had fallen in with mugs and lost my direction when I used to try, and fail at, keeping up with them. You see they were very speedy mugs, and, certainly either skilled or very lucky. Way too fast for me, and I was fortunate to survive at all. Now, I have returned to the easy cruising of my former days, and I realize that there cruising can be quite satisfying, especially with the correct motorcycle. Speed is over rated, and, taking corners quickly can be dangerous. Just check out all the crash photos from just the one famous corner above the Rock Store, on what they now call The Snake. And, that's just one corner.

That's why I may be willing to sacrifice, take on a burden, take it off you, relieving you of your complaints and pains . . .

Thanks, but I have to say that reforming was forced upon me by senility and lack of physical strength, as speedy mugs are all fearless road warriors, who see no risks in their idea of fun riding, but, elderly folks tend to be more conservative as far as perceptions of what constitutes taking crazed risks. I also have to note that backsider is correct, my KTM is vastly more powerful than his (there are videos, and unrecorded standing start comparisons), but, in my case, as I learned with the Hayabusa, with great power comes great responsibility, and, this sage knowledge also contributed to my complete reform. No more speeding, ever, and, no passing over the double yellow, which, by itself, means that one could not speed for long on any popular road with interesting curves, as that Prius is NEVER going to yield to a motorcycle, or, for that matter, to anyone.
