Cool! With some advance notice I might be able to sneak out of the nursing home and go on a ride. I would even be open to meeting up during the week, although you'd have to agree to wait up for me now and then.mikedbike2002 wrote:Next time a breakfast rides happening I'll post it here! Re: When is Mike going to Leona Valley again?
I have been reviewing video evidence to prove my statements about my lack of skills compared to the fast guys. However, due to my long use of GoPro's there are many hours of video to review and the task appears rather daunting. However, here is a shot of Backsideslider in action, as he reaches over to my DR-Z and clicks my kill button to off. I was so flustered that I nearly crashed and I failed to record his two block victory wheelie. But, the camera don't lie and he will stop at nothing to get to the front of a ride.....

Brakelate, on the other hand, is so skilled that now and then, he almost gets on top of slower riders as it is hard for him to comprehend how slowly they are going. Here he makes a close pass, and, again I was spooked and failed to get the victory wheelie on video.

Here is another close pass. There was a lurid victory wheelie, as I recall, but, I missed it as usual.....

If you click on the pic he attached, to enlarge it, though I am still blurry, you can start to clearly see "71" indicated on his DRZ dash. Thus, at approaching 4500' in elevation, even with my best carb tuning tricks, he must have been running wide open as it was. Oh, and disregard the fact that I was on a machine with THREE times the discplacement of the DRZ. So, how he could overcome those odds, yet still be that close? The answer is simple and clear; Purely superior riding skills on his part.Tetge wrote: In the pic I attached, he has his arm out waving me to catch up as he had caught a glimpse of some bikes up ahead of us and he wanted to slay them before Newcombs.

Re: When is Mike going to Leona Valley again?
Only two things can be gleaned from that Three-Framed shot that Tetge posted above. If I am such "hot shit", how did he over take me at such a unexpected, high rate of closure that he damn near T-Boned me broadside, despite us going in the same direction??? Obviously this was some of the very earliest footage, as my bike appears to be 100% stock, from tires, to sliders to lack of racing numbers. And, I was still at that time, able to squeeze into my old LACR drag racing super hero "Lightning Bolt" leathers, though thinly disguised by my loose wind breaker over the top.
The other, more important point, is that in each frame, you can see with such great detail (even in my slimmer, more toned down body mass days ) how well my ass fits on the stock DRZ saddle. Thinly padded (the seat!) with me pouring over the sides like 5 lbs of bread dough on a 2 lbs cutting board.

The shots came from video, so, of course, it is clear that you not only muscled past me, you then attempted to run me into the pavement. And, yes, it was an early video at a point when you were teaching me too show respect and get out of the way of the fast guy.Brakelate wrote:......how did he over take me at such a unexpected, high rate of closure that he damn near T-Boned me broadside, despite us going in the same direction??? I could deploy the video to dispel the misdirected response by you, but, I will simply allow intelligent readers to form their own opinions about the relative veracity of the authors.

All of these screen shots are of Tetge overtaking me and Brakelate.
Further, that first one that he claims was me trying to hit his kill switch is actually a glimpse of my pitiful attempt to grab onto Tetge to get a tow from him as he was passing me by.
BTW, no one with any sense wheelies a Commando because their frames are known to break at the headstock upon landing the front end if you try to pop a wheelie.
