Rode Stockton Motard track day Sunday

Post by mikedbike2002 »

Drove up to Sonoma Thursday to visit Lisa & Darrick. Sunday we went to Stockton for an open practice motard day. They have enough race bikes that I rode 1 of their Honda CRF150 motards & Lisa rode the other 1. Darrick rode his 550 Aprila motad. The guy is friggin fast & even some of the top rated motard riders in the U.S. that were there couldn't keep up with him. It was great to ride with Lisa again & she has gotten faster lately. She ran away from me!! I managed to ride 3 sessions before my back said "that's enough!" I am on bike #24 & Lisa is #72. Came back yesterday.

It must be nice to have race bikes supplied when you visit, but, how did you cope with all the extra power that the 125 Honda had compared to your DR-Z? But, it was a nice camera shot of you as it made you look like a real pro! It rained over night here so I have yet another excuse not to ride my bike. In truth, I am not riding because both the front and rear tires need replacing again, and it is a real PITA to order new tires and tubes and to find a decent, honest, shop, to mount and balance them, now that Lilly has closed up his Honda dealership here in town. So, cold, rain, too early in the morning, etc., are all good excuses for not riding.

And, good for Lisa that she has continued to ride and that she is now faster than her old mentor!

Hope your back heals. Any therapy?

The back surgeon sent me to therapy for 3 days a week for 3 weeks. NO WORKIE! Then they sent me to a pain management specialist. 2 treatments. The 1st one left my whole rt side bruised for 2 weeks plus it NO WORKIE!
Then I saw an acupuncture guy that people raved about. 12 treatments NO WORKIE! Got sent to another pain management guy & he wanted to do the same treatment as the other guy. It's called a nerve block so I told "get lost!" My insurance is thru Medicaid & secondary is thru The Producers Health Plan from when I retired from the Screen Actors Guild. That plan is hooking up with the UC medical facility in about 6 months & then I hope to get into their Spinal Care Clinic. Till then I got to live with it.

Tetge it was a 150 Honda CRF150BW & they are very fast small bikes. The straights on that track are short so Lisa & I could stay with the 450 & 550s. Here's a pic of me with 2 big bikes.

Ordinarily 25cc more would not make a significant difference, but when you are talking 125 vs. 150 I am sure that it does. But, I knew that they were quick, so, I was not joking about you having to adapt from the big, heavy, slow, DR-Z. And, bad back or not, you rode the track, so, kudos to you for that at your advanced age. Some people about the same age just lay around all day making up excuses why they can't get out and ride (not that I know anyone like that, personally).

Lisa's boyfriend Darrick knows everyone at the track & when I was riding I guess he kept telling everyone I was riding his bike at 73 years old. Later people were coming over to meet me like it was something special. I just want to ride!!

Hope you gave them a big Hi for all of us down here. Or, further out here, in my case.

Here's Lisa in action with the big boys. Other picture is her boyfriend Darrick Riding. With a new mentor like him it's no wonder she beats me!
