Big Ride Out This Weekend!
Anyone up for a ride or two this weekend? Weather is looking good after last weekends Tropical Storm dumped on all the Desert Southwest, and the road debris should have been cleared or warn away by routine commuter traffic by then.
PLAN:
Casual run up to "Jackson Pond" on Saturday July 25th - sometime in the afternoon into the early evening when it is cool out. Ride out starts in the AV - ends when you get home, wherever that may be.
Then, Sunday July 26th, the long awaited return of the "Real Deal Breakfast Ride". Same old route, starting for some in the AV, meeting up with others at the 7-11 in Sylmar, then running back up to the Breakfast Spot in Elizabeth Lake / Lake Hughes area, a few miles down from the infamous Rock Inn. Then we all split up and head for home in any which direction best suits the individual's needs.
Meet up time for Saturday's event will be based on the level of interest generated in this thread, or perhaps if someone wants to cross post it on SMJ.
Sunday's ride will leave the AV Park and Ride at 8:45am , will re-group at 9:30am at the 7-11 and then roll out around 10:00am for the run up the hill.
Yes, I will be in town with the mighty (dusty) DRZ-400SM. DO NOT miss this rare opportunity for a ride that sadly, has dwindled from damn near a weekly event, to a Bi-Annual Nostalgic Cruise through the hills for a nice, social breakfast gathering.
Post up with any questions, concerns, comments or an approximate "head count" of those interested in doing the rides on either date, or both!
Be There, or Be Square all you Hipsters out there!

Are only hipsters invited? I sort of was going to tag along if you agreed to pull over and wait for me here and there. And, my brother said that he wants to do a trial ride of my DR-Z to see if he should buy it or not. But, neither of us is a hipster.

Where is Mike? Where is John?
Go over and post up a Local Ride "call out" over at SMJ. I don't have the time at the moment, and the earlier we can put this out, the better the response we may have. It would be fun if some of our old contacts perked up and replied over there or even were able to participate in the event this weekend.

Sounds like a fun time! I wish I could attend, but I will be tending to an ailing wife this weekend. Well, that, and I have to get some new coils, and possibly new tires before I go anywhere on the GPz.

Mike is showing, so, at least Brakelate will have one rider to keep him sharp. Me and my brother will be cruising along somewhere at the back, just taking in the scenery as neither of us ever rides fast.
Now, where is that mug with the Norton?

OK, I'm in, will pass along to the other usual suspects who are in my loop.
I'll be at 7-11 Sunday AM
Shot an email to Ducati Ron and 675 Triumph Kelley and some other Brit bike/Norton guys that I'll be at the 7-11 Sunday AM
Which, BTW, conflicts with installation of my two post lift, dang it all.
Clearing space and prepping for concrete footings tomorrow, figured on weekend to tilt posts up.
I've waited a couple of years to do it so the conflict is on me.
Also, I'll see if I can round up someone to ride over Big T/AF Saturday AM for a meet at Mt. Emma; Brakelate, text me regarding meet time . . .

Re: Big Ride Out This Weekend!
Now Brakelate has some more folks to ride with. I was worried that he might feel cheated if he had to putt along with my brother and me. But, with some skilled canyon mugs showing, things are looking up. And I can even get a bit of video after each stop when they wait for us, before they disappear again.
It is shaping up to be a nice ride.

Agreed!
Now, if only Walker had some way to stuff his bike in the "overhead compartment" for the flight up here...
