Maybe, since it is just a few days away, we can pick a time to meet there on Saturday to booze and bullshit. It's been too long, and I miss you (I am slowly going insane)

Yes, Saturday is definitely the day. I was waiting to set a time and commit until closer to the weekend since I wish to check the weather. But, it appears that my brother will get there sometime around 2 PM. I have not nailed down the agenda yet since, I am on dog day time, and it is a lot of dog days off in the future. At least I think that it is a lot of dog days because I can't count to more than one or two.

Which reminds me that I need to bring some beverage with me since the bar sells only beer and wine and I don't drink beer. I better put a sticky note somewhere right away to remind me.

And, yes, I am depressed about the DR-Z. Also, I couldn't resist watching some drag racing today, and, it was a real mess that reminded me of how bad slippery nights were at LACR when only a few could get down the track.

So even Utah Slim made it, arriving in Grand Style! He backed his truck/trailer rig into the corner leading to the parking lot, had the whole crowd asking "WTF was that?" Good times

Many Commie Hippie types were present, including Tetge, whom I revved on just to assert my Constitutional Right to annoy hippies who drive slow automatic sleds. As usual, the hippie was not amused

A good crowd, if smaller than last year, but fun. I outraged a couple of the hippies who were calling themselves Democratic Socialists by having a lengthy discussion about Constitutional rights and exposing them for the communists they are. It's always fun to poke the commie bear

Speaking of bears, one lumbered across the road in front of me on the way home. I've seen coyotes, deer and other small wildlife up there before, but never a bear. However, he was no threat. I just revved on his commie ass and he skedaddled smartly across the road and into the brush. I made it home safely

One more thing, Tetge needs a haircut, the freaking hippie

Tim has pics. I am not a Commie Stukach, so I did not surveil the crowd for a report back to the Central Committee. I will report that Utah Slim has a new 1986 Honda VF1000R Liter Sport Bike he got a smoking deal on

I had a chat with Frank who drove down from Nor Cal in a nice comfortable cage, and who stated that he was feeling somewhat better, but that he had not ridden a motorcycle since May of last year. We sort of talked about aging and riding, and I think that he may have convinced me to sell the KTM and hang it up. When you lose your fire or get too cautious due to advanced age, it might be best to give up pushing things as unexpected consequences are always a possibility. Frank was pretty smart as he left the party with plenty of daylight left, to drive back to Nor Cal, which I wish I had done, as I am almost blind at night these days, it seems. But, of course, it is an old wives' tale that wisdom comes with age, at least in the cases of some people and I didn't leave until it was very dark out, and I suffered greatly as a consequence of my stupidity. Perhaps wisdom never comes at all to some, no matter how elderly they become?

One can enjoy a motorcycle without pushing to the absolute edge. Or sell it, buy a Ducati Scrambler, some nice new clothes and a pipe, and just enjoy the great sound and rhythm, and the admiration. You are 72, not 102.

I will assume that you are just chewing on the notion until I see the for sale sign.
I am planning my ride up to SoCal, which I will cancel if you are bailing out. I will not be riding up to kill myself, just to enjoy the biking experience.

I couldn't see at night with the SPF Cobra on my long ride so I UPGRADED MY LIGHTS, for Christ's sake.

I still have the KTM. And, I may have to keep it since it would cost way too much to give it away. Maybe I will drain the oil and put it in my living room.

I upgraded to Sylvania Ultra Bright's in my 5.0 for both the main lights and the driving lights immediately. It made a noticeable difference, but, I still can't see at night. So, I am pretty cautious but, if it is a dark night and it is raining heavily, for instance, I get pretty tense. Years ago the same conditions with terrible headlights didn't even bother me a bit. For some folks, eyes are just one more thing that wears out with age.

As for you riding to So Cal? I will assume that you are just chewing on the notion until I see the Scrambler in So Cal......

I admit, my eyes suck, but the better headlights really helped on the drive back from Wisconsin to Colorado.

Yes, I am just trying out the idea of riding up and back. The Ducati is not a touring bike, but a some owners have done some serious rides. And survived.
I want to do the very minimal planned March mods and get a good the tune on the Ducati before deciding to ride up, but for 2015, the two significant planned activities were executed, and that felt good. This trip would be a "bit" more difficult, and I would want to do a couple of difficult rides before deciding. If it creates physical agony, then I will see what Advil does. If it is still agony, then not a good idea. So far the longer rides have only been exhausting, not really painful.
The "safe" route adds a lot of mileage, but I'd probably give up the extra time to improve my odds of arriving with my head still attached.

There is no sanity involved, but I acknowledge that time IS running out for insane activities. Terri has already said "Whatever...". She typically says, about anything, "just do it so I don't have to hear you talk forever about why you should have done it".
