Did mikedbike get his KTM?
Has he been arrested and his driver's license revoked? No doubt that a fast KTM would be a big change from a fast DR-Z, so, perhaps, Mike is in training and cooling it prior to taking any breakfast rides? One thing, Vasquez was closed when Brakelate and I attempted to get over to Bouquet a couple of weeks ago so, the traditional route to Leona Valley was not open. That sort of rained on out ride, but, on the other hand we didn't have to worry about potential CHP max enforcement nabbing us. So, we never hit Spunky to see how the KTM dealt with it. And, that may have been a good thing as far as I was concerned as Spunky is about as technical as it gets.
And, while I am wondering, where is a report on Big Norton John. He should be able to post on the NET by now. Brakelate needs some fast guys to test his 1290R against. Of course, it would take some advance notice, as he needs to get a trailer hitch for the K1300S and a trailer so that he can tow the 1290R out to California.

Good Point. Perhaps it is time I make some phone calls and see what those boys are up to.

To post a picture, you go to the "Upload Attachment" tab down below where you enter the text of your post, and then "Browse" to where the picture is on your hard drive, and then click the "Add the file" button. That's all there is to it.
A 270 pound KTM, fully fueled. What is it a 125? How does it handle as it must be really nimble feeling after a top heavy DR-Z. At least my KTM felt so quick handling that I was all over the road initially. Now, after a year, I can sort of keep it on line, as long as I don't go fast. But, since Brakelate moved away and is no longer around to serve as a bad influence, I have returned to my former easy cruising, legal speeds, riding pace. So, the KTM is actually a waste for me, since I never use the power and I can't take corners fast.

If you had proper surveillance on old Mike, as some do, you'd know that he already posted that:xbacksideslider wrote:What year and model?
"I have an announcement to make! I too am giving in to wanting less pounds & more horsepower. I am buying a 2012 KTM 500 Dual sport converted to a street legal super moto! About 70 lbs less & 10 hp more then my DRZ."
Of course, that quote proves what we always knew which was that his DR-Z makes about 45 RWHP, if the 500 KTM is only 10hp more. But, the 70 pounds less curb weight is pretty hard to accept as that would have the 500 KTM at about 270 pounds curb weight street legal. On the other hand, $3000 rims could be really light, and if Mike left that box off the rear of the bike, that would save some weight. But, 500cc>439cc, or what ever the displacement of the DR-Z really is, so it will be quicker for sure. And, Lisa's husband also is a certified pro so the setup should be spot on. Those unsuspecting riders up on GMR are in for a surprise.

I am thinking I should have ordered the Medium/Hard Compounds, instead of the Soft/Mediums.
I doubt I will be getting much mileage out of these on the Super Dukie. Especially considering this was just a short spin 'around the block'... and it is the FRONT tire shown!

I just saw this since I was preoccupied most of the morning dealing with the aliens in the flying saucer that landed in my back yard this morning. Would I lie?

Re: Did mikedbike get his KTM?
By any chance, did you get the opportunity to ask it about the optimal psi front going road tire that would both prevent premature wear at low pressure, but also be high enough to avoid my 'cold / low psi' tire warning alerts from going off every time I run the bike?
I guess the "Dongle" eliminated about Three of the Five annoying electronic naggles, but a couple remain. I guess that is life. And If that is the worst of it, no biggie.
Hell, the opening LCD Info Screen Graphi that flashes a bold "Unlawful to Ride" / "Illegal Conditions Present" is worth the price of admission all by itself. It gets immediately in the right "Hooligan" frame of mind, right when you power the Beast up, yet before you even get close the to the "Thumbing of the Starter" count down.
And with this machine, I find that perfectly appropriate, almost as if having those evil, rowdy and overly aggressive Adrenaline Seeking components in your brain on "Mental Tire Warmers" as you go through the gearing up, launch code sequence activation count down ritual, as you "Kick the Tires and Light the Fires" prior to wheeling it out of the hangar , unleashing it on the kind, unsuspecting world.

I'd be scared by that thing. Too light, fast, agile, and noisy, not to mention the fact that it tells you that you are doing something illegal.
