Thanks to this post, I watched the first installment last night. I was not impressed with Velocity as it was 50% commercials and so-so coverage, but, I was impressed with the short clips of actual racing that they showed, and, the 133+ MPH average of the winning BMW was staggering as well as the sub 17 minute lap time. Hard to believe that they run six laps at such an insane pace. And, they run in multiple races over the week of racing. Of course, there have already been two deaths out on the circuit, so the Isle of Man is the real deal.

I did not even know that I had Velocity to watch until I saw this thread and I am now going to record the racing at the Isle so I can skip the endless commercials and only watch the parts of the coverage that interest me. But, it was interesting to see some riders who almost ride faster than Brakelate and Norton John (by alleged first person observations up by Lake Isabella).

Did you see that there was a Norton that had 131 mile an hour average?

They briefly interviewed some bloke who purportedly was riding a Norton. But, they never gave the specs on any of the bikes so I have no clue what that Norton might be. But, I know that to average over 131 mph, which was pitifully off the pace, it was no 750 twin. It would have been nice to know what the specs for the class were, but, I suppose that they assume that anyone tuning in would know that and would rather see cult of personality interviews with riders. I know that the BMW of the winner sounded really nasty as it made its standing start, and, it was on that lap that the records were shattered. Dunlop backed off a bit and used strategy once he had a time gap and was tucked in right behind his competition for a sure win. I think he was barely at, or a pinch above, a 133 mph average, as there was no need to get crazy to keep the lead.

They had to DQ that cheater, Dunlop, on his 600, after he took a mere second place yesterday. It seems that he had Teflon coated cam buckets, or some such. They will do anything to win.

But, the real funny part to me was that when they interviewed the riders, they were all saying how easy and relaxing it was to ride the 600's compared to the superbikes. They average in the low 130's onsuperebikes and in the high 120's on the 600's, but, to the riders, it is no big thing to ride a 600 and never lift, compared to the big bikes. Back off a few MPH and the 37.73 mile lap comes a yawner. You even have time to check out the spectators. It is also only a three lap race, so less physically demanding. Naturally my conclusion was that, as usual, I am never able to understand the fast guy mentality.

And, BTW, before the Brit bike lover goes ballistic, I know that Dunlop's team purchased an engine from another well reputed team and that the Teflon coated parts were legal when the engine was assembled but subsequently outlawed. So, although they had to DQ him, it was not his fault and he was not trying to cheat, particularly since the outlawed part was stated to add no performance at all.

And here is basically the entire record setting lap of just short of 134 mpn average, by Michael Dunlop on a 1000 BMW. I cranked it up to 1080p and ran it full screen and I got to say Dunlop made it look easy. They say that the bikes can hit almost 200 MPH:
