Jimmy Joe Bob did not appear to be particularly slim. But, I suppose that the real test would be to send Juan to sit in the car and report back. Mustangs may still be too small for him. Also, the test drivers all appear to be wimps, except forjhwalker wrote:We should ask that the test drivers post up their height and weightTetge wrote:I was figuring that the stock seats would fit a, shall we say, larger frame, better than the somewhat expensive optional Recaro's. Randy. They need to get some drivers in the cars at Willow so we can see how they really go.
I also was curious how the new GT compared to the SVT Cobra. As recall, the Cobra was fully loaded and listed for $34750. To get leather seats and a fair amount of similar luxury in the new car, one has to get the premium model, and, with the Recaro seats and the GT Performance Package this list for $40,015. Of course, the car has more HP/TQ than the Cobra did and bigger brakes and, it is said, a much more sophisticated chassis. If a person got the less expensive base GT with cloth interior, with the Recaro seats and GT Performance Package, it would be $37015, list. And, it would be a bit lighter than the Premium model. Still, with approx. 10.5% additional taxes and fees added on, the Premium model would be ~$44000. OTD, and the base model, ~$40000. I paid full retail for my Cobra and it came to $38000, OTD. But the Cobra was a limited production car and also it was a monster in its day.
I wonder how long it will be before dealers are making good deals on the new car? Perhaps next year when the new Craparo comes out, as Ford would like to grab back the lead in sales from Chevy. But, my paid for 12 sec, GT, with the stout stick axle and no wheel hop sort of looks good at this point, auto trans and all. It even gets 25 mpg on the highway. And, I have reformed from racing and hot rodding, particularly since Brakelate left town and took his bad influence with him. So, an auto trans grocery getter is not a bad vehicle.
