Looks like we're going to be getting a great deal on a newer truck soon, so I'll be fixing up this truck, and selling it sometime this year. I plan on getting as many gauges working as I can, replacing the warped dash pad, fixing an oil leak, and getting it painted. I found a local shop that gave me a good price, and from looking at the market for these trucks, I should be able to get a lot more money for it fixed up.

It has been many months without a status update, so, is it done? Has it been sold off already at a big profit?

The truck is sitting in front of the house waiting for a new owner to come along and buy it. I'm still holding out hope for profit, but if a friend or family member comes along and wants it, I'd give it to them for cost. An uncle of mine really wants it, but parking is scarce at his house, so they have no room. I'm loving the new truck, though.

I also forgot to ask about the motorcycle? And, for cost? Does that mean that you kept track of every cent that you spent?

The motorcycle has a new starter clutch, which works great. Unfortunately, it sat for long enough to gum the carbs up for a 3rd time, so I have to clean those out again. Work got super busy when I got to that point, so it's still waiting for me out in the garage.

For the truck, yes, I've kept track of the costs. Not to the cent, which I could calculate since I bought everything online and have emails, but close enough.

Perhaps you subconsciously have become attached to your projects? Do you still have a motorcycle endorsement on your driver's license?

I don't feel any attachment for the truck. I want it gone, but I'm being patient waiting for the right buyer.

The bike, I do have more attachment to. I will ride it once it's road worthy. Yes, I still have my M1 endorsement, and I still have all my gear. The plan is still to sell it, but it will be a game time decision. The market isn't super strong for them, so I probably won't see too much profit out of it, even though it was "free."

Be careful if you return to riding, as it is a big powerful motorcycle, and it does take some seat time to get reacquainted with riding. I actually recommend going to a nearby large parking lot, after hours, and doing a bit of starting off and stopping and handing drills. I like parking lots since they are nice and flat with no unexpected dogs running out or cars backing out of driveways, etc. And, in the unlikely event of a crash, generally it only is some pavement rash. But, all the reps on the various controls that one accomplish fairly quickly in a parking lot can make a difference, and, it also gives all the mechanical bits a nice test, presumably fairly close to home base.

But, then again, what would I know?
