Toyota FT-4X??

e Japanese automaker recently filed an application to trademark “Toyota FT-4X” for automobiles and structural parts thereof, suggesting that the company is working on a new off-road, four-wheel-drive model. The “FT” in the trademark means Future Toyota and has been used previously with the FT-86 Concept that eventually became the Scion FR-S and Toyota 86, as well as the FT-1 Concept that is believed to preview the Supra’s successor.

Unfortunately, very little is known about a possible FT-4X and this trademark application is the first time rumors have even surfaced that Toyota could be working on a replacement for the FJ Cruiser. The Toyota FJ Cruiser has been missing from the U.S. market since 2014, but production didn’t cease until August 2016.

Due to the overwhelming response to this post...
There are 3-4 FJ Cruisers around here. The owners keep them spotless! Toyota must have used great paint on them. They all look great. If they made a 3200 lb. version I'd grab one. The damned things weigh over 4300 lbs.

Don't ever see them around here but plenty of domestic 4x4's and Jeeps. But, for most of us, the roads are paved and it really doesn't snow much in So Cal, so the expensive, lumbering, Toyota, would make no sense.

They are too big... but cool.

Sort of a Japanese Hummer? If big is cool, a Dodge Power Wagon fits the bill and I drive a fairly new Power Wagon and they drive very well. Great commanding view of the road up there, and, it was obvious that other vehicles showed respect to the giant of a truck. But, inside it was like a Rolls, so, when driving the beast, one just thinks "Let them eat cake".

Like many other vehicles, they are just too big for the streets if San Miguel. The streets were designed for burros and carts. The town is 'preserved', and things in Centro are not changing. So more streets are being made 1 way only because 'for instance, 2 Suburbans or Expeditions, can not pass each other in opposite directions. Thus the Mexican stand-offs all around town.
