700HP is just bananas for the street. Not to say we all haven't thought, "You can't have too much horsepower," at one point or another. But realistically, that's just too much out of a "muscle car." 700HP will always be dangerous and difficult to manage on the street, but if you have a sophisticated chassis with equally sophisticated traction control, you've got a chance. The Challenger chassis was probably designed to manage 400HP. I'm sure they make some suspension tweaks on the Hellcats, at least I hope they do for that price tag, but that's probably just a band-aid.

If they say that is at the crank, using the old 15% loss (and I have no idea if that ever was valid or still is valid), that is about 600 or less to the wheels, and the Hellcat weighs 4500ish lbs before the driver.

But it is a toy, and I approve of toys...

Just made a round trip to Santa Barbara and back, and, to miss traffic on the 14, I ran north to Castaic on the way back and took Lake Hughes Rd over to the AV. And, my car was definitely donme on HP. Using your 15% rule, based upon the RET dyno results, I would have about 440 crank HP. and I was down on punch all day. I did see 30 miles per gallon at one point on the way over, but, for some reason, I ended up with a bit over 18 mph round trip. I think that my throttle was sticking or something. But, I did go to Harry's Plaza Café in Santa Barbara and they say that they always pour doubles, so, who knows? Not that would ever have drinks at lunch time.

Anyway, I certainty could have used more HP and a better transmission and better tires and brakes. It is a wonder that I even got home with my weak POS.

15% might be a little high in a modern drivetrain. Either way, it's obvious that the chassis/suspension are not set up to manage the power it has.

There are MUCH better toys to be had in that price range. I would take a used GT-R over a new Hellcat any day.
