Was there ever a time in history where the outfielder caught the "Could-have been" home run in the stands? I see them attempt all the time, but have never actually seen somebody reach into the stands and successful save the home run.
Baseball ?
It has happened MANY MANY TIMES!
Torri Hunter has done it at least 50-100 times in his career.

if you havent seen it, then you dont watch enough baseball.....as noted already torii hunter and jim edmonds have done it religiously, melky cabrera robbed manny ramirez at yankee stadium last season, ichiro's done it, so to answer your question its been done, you just see more that arent caught

Those are reaching over the fence. I saw footage of a Japanese player stand ON the fence and catch one and some fall over the short wall in Dodger Stadium. Of course, there's the Rodney MacRae crashing THROUGH the wall catch.
By rule, you must be inside the stadium when you start your ascent of the wall. You can't jump over and line yourself up for the pop-up. You can end up in the seats, but can't start off there.

I remember watching Juan Pierre do it to Barry Bonds in 2006 when Bonds was nearing Babe Ruth. On the other head, Jose Canseco once had a ball hit him on the top of his head and the ball bounced off his head and over the fence for a home run!

I think I understand your question....did he go into the stands prior to the ball coming down'''''don't think that this would be legal...do remember times in old Yankee Stadium and at Fenway park where the fence was really low in right field....the player would start on this side but as he caught it the momentum carried him into the stands...kinda like a year back when Jeter caught the foul ball and then ended in the stands.....as long as he starts on the fair side he can.....but he could not run into the stands for example and wait for the ball to come down!

Torii Hunter has done it, Andruw Jones has done it, Ken Griffey Jr in his early career did it a lot.

It's very common. If you watch as much baseball as many of us do, you will eventually see it.
