How to embed videos here

All,

I enabled embedding videos here.

All you have to do is click the "video" button in a new post or reply and copy the video link and your done.

URLs do not need to be cleaned from the garbage arguments as our [video] will work it out. You can use both the URL of the video page and the URL of the embed code (unless other instructions are given).

Currently the following video services are supported:
youtube.com (youtu.be) - playlists are also supported
vimeo.com
vk.com (vkontakte.ru) — the URL from the embed code is required
facebook.com
dailymotion.com
ustream.tv — streams and recorded videos
twitch.tv — streams and recorded videos
metacafe.com
video.google.com
video.yandex.ru — the URL from the embed code is required
myvideo.de
own3d.tv
clipfish.de
veevr.com
rutube.ru — it is recommended to use the URL from the embed code
video.mail.ru
smotri.com
video.qip.ru
video.bigmir.net
tvigle.ru — the URL from the embed code is required
video.online.ua
video.sibnet.ru
yapfiles.ru
megogo.net
intv.ru
lovi.tv
WebM, OGV and MP4 files via HTML5 <video> tag

In the nearest future the following video services will be supported:

I do have some early Vimeo vidoes but the policy at Vimeo to limit the amount that could be uploaded and their failure to embrace HD quickly led me to youtube. I suppose that I could link to the vintage Vimeo stuff if it were possible to embed it.

I have no idea what the software that you are using can or can not do. But, it is nice of you to try to accommodate us and there certainly is no urgency as far as Vimeo goes. Perhaps some will stay and this forum will get some life? I certainly have no objections to that, as witnessed by the fact that I attempted to give it a jump start once before. It is funny that such a nicely presented site has escaped attention in this day of total information.

Hello....ok I went whole hog and revamped the entire subsystem.

Vimeo, Youtube, and a whole ton more are supported now. Updated the original broadcast post above with all the formats. You can check it out to see what we support here now in regards to embedding.

Pretty cool and embedding video should be pretty easy now for the formats listed.

The board's software, PHPBB, is pretty customizable.

Does the video button work by simply inserting the url of the video between the two video comments? I suppose I can try and see right here with another youtube video
