I was looking for a spot to post about my car and I realized that there was no Mustang forum on this site. SVT and off road and motorcycle and Mopar and foreign machines, but, no regular Mustangs. I was going to post about some Porsche vert with BIG tires and an older driver that ran me down from a roll and passed me and waved good bye as he rolled off into the distance today. The Porsche did get on it first since I never expected the poser to hit it and I was handicapped by my lousy gearing and I had a passenger and 120 pounds of groceries and bottled water in the car (12.5 gallons of water which is 100 pounds of water, alone). I hankered for my old Cobra as he waved. Still the Porsche was faster than the slug GT. He did not go from a dead stop or it might have been a much better contest. However, there was a cop car right there when we hit the only stop around on the four lane road, so we went from a roll on the next street with me following behind him. I was alert that time and sure enough he punched it at 20-30 mph but he did not distance me at all although I did not close on him. The Porsche was a late model but I saw no model designation on it, but it seemed to run pretty well. I do know that a Terminator would have been faster, and, perhaps I could have held my own on my MT's from a stop if I had not been carrying extra weight and a full tank of fuel. Interesting that a 125K super car could barely edge a 25K loaded down slug auto trans GT. I would have liked to run from a stop, but, these exotic drivers never really like to hammer their machines from a dead stop.
BTW: All this happened on closed streets in Mexico.

Re: Race?
It was probably some version of the 911. As I recall, James' pimped out version didn't really have a model designation on it either, though it had some factory upgrades on it. It sounds like you held your own nonetheless. Good on ya, you old

But, even though he had the jump from behind me since I had no idea that he was going to do a fly by, he waved bye-bye as he passed me. I think that I could have made his day not so good if we had gone right from a light, but fate stopped that from happening. Still, it seems that there are quite a few cars out there that can run with a Mustang GT but there were a lot less that could hang with my old Cobra. It is the old 12 sec versus 11 sec thing.
