Didn't get to The Place on time; got there about 9:45 I guess, so I missed Tim and all the Velos and Brakelate as well, so I hustled in their wake but never caught them. Stopped at Reyes Creek on the chance that they'd stop there, nope. But I had a memorable burger and a couple of beers. Then met the remnants of the Velos at The Place. There was a MIA so I went back down to Lockwood and on to Gorman and found the missing persons.

Nice day, Brakelate backed his trailer into my yard for the evening and is likely on his way to Tetge's vicinity even now.

My DZR started life as a 2000 S dual sport model. But it's changed a lot since then. Motor 2006 E model. big bore, ported head, cams, Big carb 39mm, full Yosh exhaust, after market CDI unit, etc. Front forks came from Yosh as they built 2 sets for Kevin Schwantz when he raced for them & only used 1 so the other is mine now. Modified rear shock, etc, etc. And as my Cousin Gilda Radner used to say "and that's the truth!"

Thanks for sharing. Sounds cool. Now that I have the 2000 E to go along with the 2005 S, I really like the feel of the E.
2 E's would be more fun, since I am 90% off-road. The comparative sense of lightness of the E front-end is interesting. Probably a lot of factors.

Small world on the shocks... I might have posted that Jim, Kevin's dad, lives here in San Miguel part-time. He is bringing down the Harbor Freight motorcycle lift that I am ordering.
Jim's two E's are immaculate. We both usually take it pretty easy here. The terrain is often an almost-cement surface, with loose material on the surface, and there are just not enough pads for 70+ year-olders to feel comfortable falling at speed. Last year someone had stretched a single strand of wire tightly across a gate opening that took us both down. Neither saw it until the last " WTF!" moment and we both went down, more from panic than the actual wire. It was strung too low to take a head off, hitting right under my handlebars.
